I'm no fashion pony but one of the many travesties of the media's ignoring of amazing Melania was the fact that a lot of her outfits were very likely prime for "steal this look" budget recreations. Yeah, she had a few dresses that were out of this world, but honestly the majority of her wardrobe -- while looking fabulous -- were not out-of-reach to resemble. I agree with this. But a lot of people -- I will even admit myself, occasionally, once maybe -- have voted a straight R ticket out of spite for D's. In and of itself that isn't a bad thing, but when Rinos lurk it can be. But the same could be said for a new party as well.
One thing I can suggest (maybe incorrectly) in favor of a new party over strict vetting of candidates to the old party is that building something new brings with it a creative energy that a "remodeling" simply does not. The idea of MAGA flies in the face of that by its very definition, but I would argue it felt new in a way that merely voting for a vetted Republican would not have.
