I do payroll for a small company. I have read over the news as well as the IRS guidelines itself, and I have urged my employer not to do this. The employer is liable for this payment if they do not withhold double come January 1st to cover the expenses. If an employee quits or is terminated, any withholding needs to be held on the last paycheck. If the employer pays it, then the employee gets additional “payment” that they received and did not pay taxes on, so it sounds like a tax clusterfuck.
I spent 3 hours on hold today for the DMV because USPS did not deliver my registration. Tell me again how they can deliver ballots correctly and in a timely manner?
