Ive seen it happen after some sort of trauma. Usually progressing slowly. I see people who are in good shape and then lose a loved one or get really sick and then stop going to the gym. Eventually depression takes over and they lose all motivation. It’s actually kind of sad to see. I’ve also seen friends who enter a new stage of life and just don’t know how to stay healthy. I remember showing up to a baby shower to see friends I hadn’t seen for two years and they’re literally twice the size I last saw them. Seeing that scared me. My wife and I signed up for personal training at a really good gym days later. I want someone who will chew me out if I slack off and don’t show up.
Everyone should read the book, Live Not by Lies: A Manual for Christian Dissidents by Rod Dreher.
Sounding the alarm about the insidious effects of identity politics, surveillance technology, psychological manipulation, and more, he equips contemporary Christian dissidents to see, judge, and act as they fight to resist the erosion of our freedoms.
I’ve noticed the same in upstate, NY. Normally I’m the only one without a mask. I might see one or two depending on the store. Today, I saw dozens. I was shocked.
I don’t say anything. Just seeing someone without a mask is refreshing. If you wanted to say something, maybe go with a classic like. “MAGA”, “Trump won”, or maybe something less political like “The best is yet to come” or “Keep it great”. Maybe give an “okay” hand signal or a head nod.
I hope you know how offensive this question is to people who grew up in Rochester, "The Home of Wegmans" :s
In all seriousness, it's probably the best grocery store in the country. Not only because of what it offers on the shelves but because each Wegmans has a world-class bakery, (gotta love that Garlic Tuscan bread!) and they also source quality food from around the world: Cheeses, meats, fruits, etc...
I have parents that moved South and will drive 2 hours on the weekend to shop at Wegmans.
Also from the Rochester area. People here have learned to fear the social ramifications of not following mandates. I don't know anyone who's afraid of the virus. I know plenty of teachers, nurses, business owners, etc. who are afraid of getting laid off or canceled for not following the mandate. It's disgusting what Cuomo did to the elderly and nursing homes. But what he's done to our culture is perhaps even worse. He's turned our community into gangs of Karens who whip out their cellphones to record, snitch and bully neighbors into following Cuomo's mandates. It's disgusting. I can not wait to see him go.
Yikes! A donut diet probably doesn't give your body enough protein to make use of the fats and carbs.
I wish my friends knew that getting fit isn't as difficult as it looks. Albeit, I've never been overweight by more than 10-15 pounds. I see people at the gym starting at 50-70lbs overweight and, within a year, they're looking great. You'd think they were fit their whole lives. 45-60 minutes a day, 5 days a week will give great results and huge transformations within a year. The key is not going so hard at the gym that you burn out in a month or can't get out of bed the next day. Most of the time I'm at the gym, I leave 25% in the tank so I can lift well the next day. Once every month or two I'll go 100% so I can track my max progress. The biggest mistake my friends make is thinking they have to go 100% every time and then they get burned out.
