Since we have a bunch of teenagers taking over a piece of Seattle and declaring it "autonomous" - even though they changed its name - the police do nothing. The mayor and governor is complicit in their madness and thus the national guard will not be called. That leaves the state militia. Does anyone have any word on what the militias are doing to take back the streets since now it'll be up to them? This is getting ridiculous.
Earlier today I walked through Naperville, IL. For those who are not familiar with the area, it is a relatively upper class town 30 miles from Chicago. My wife is originally from Naperville and we have relatives in the area who lived there for decades. Needless-to-say we are definitely familiar with what the town brings. Being from Chicago originally I have not been used to the small town charm but Naperville is a nice town with a rich history that originated as a farming community.
It was the first time being in Naperville in several months - certainly before the quarantine. It has been a few days since protesters gathered in the downtown area and smashed windows and threw fireworks at the cops who tried to control the area. Looting was rampant and all this made news.
What I saw was bizarre: half the businesses in the downtown area were boarded up either to protect their stores or because their windows were smashed by rioters. On every board was a collage of paper heart cutouts and stickers with BLM messaging on there. Statements like "Say their names!", "No Justice No Peace", "George Floyd" and "LOVE" were peppered all over these boards. You could not walk down the street without seeing them. Every type of store from restaurants, bars, even a pet shop were boarded up and graffitied with this messaging. Some of these places were still open to the public.
Which brings me to another thing I saw that truly stood out. The public itself. Business were open. Restaurants and bars were now open for outside seating only. There were people who were enjoying a nice meal and a drink while literally ten feet away was a boarded up window with BLM messaging on it, hovering over the patrons as a reminder that they must remember and acquiesce or else.
What was the else? The warning that seemed to be implied based on this message of LOVE and TOLERANCE and EQUALITY? Vandalism. There was much of it in Naperville. Stores were looted to include Starbucks, Pandora, Barnes and Nobles. Even the local library was looted. Who loots a library? A stone mural that was built and dedicated in 1987 was partially destroyed. Thank God the 9/11 memorial was left untouched perhaps because it was on the other side of town otherwise it too would have been damaged no doubt. Same for the Dick Tracy statue whose author was from Naperville Other murals were left untouched as well. The Masonic mural was left unharmed but the mural dedicated to those who had supported Naperville's development is on a target list to be "diversified" because there are too many white people. I looked at this amazing piece of art and thought how this would, as some point, be destroyed by a zelot with a can of paint.
White girls - teenage girls or women in their 20s - took pictures of the murals and giggled. Older people walked by in silence. No one either cared or were too nervous to comment. I shook my head and told my wife that this looked like Detroit. This looked like the aftermath of a war and we're just now cleaning it up. It never looked like this before and I've been coming here for almost ten years.
The damage being already done there was a gaggle of BLM protestors at the corner where all the action took place a couple of days ago. The ironic part is that there were only about 10 people and all of them white teenagers. Not a single black person in the small group. They all waved signs and some drove past honking in support while the bar behind the group was busy serving patrons who, again, either didn't care or were too scared to acknowledge what was going on. Meanwhile black people walked or dove around town with a sense of superiority. You can easily tell this by how nonchalant they were with each other. Smiling and laughing as they recognized each other on the street as if they have been here before.
The mayor of the town has not been very helpful - a Republican too! He has stripped the police of their powers and very well may cave to the the demands of BLM leaders in an effort to "diversify" Naperville which will only lead to long term destruction. Naperville has been on a list of one of the best places to live in the country and the school district is one of the best in the nation. These statuses can be taken away very easy with the action of weak men. Secretly, the people of Naperville are irate at the mayor and rumor is he is on his last political leg but who comes after him could be worse. Who knows?
Will this end? At some point. Protests are already dying down. Windows will be replaced and Naperville will return back to normal. But I certainly hope that the people there recognize that in order to maintain the town's prestige it CAN NOT allow itself to be dictated to by outsiders who demand equality and love while having a gun pointed at their head. Guaranteed they will get neither.
I'm not sure but I THINK the protests are peaceful. I've only been told this 1000 times yesterday. I'm sure if they say it again today I might think they're peaceful. It would bring peace of mind to know they're peaceful promoting peace. We need a piece of peaceful peace to make peace.
Fuck white people /s
Now that these jag offs been designated as a no shit terrorist group. What does this mean for their operations? Are they freaking out? How does this affect their standing in terms of operations, finance, and other support? Clearly, they can't be out on the street or flashing their shitty signs because the feds are going to whomp their asses.
Take it if you want it. First person to claim it is theirs. I got it but don't need it as I played it years ago. Great game!
