Putting in requirements to vote is something that has been a part of this country since its founding though the form of it has changed over time.

Having requirements to ensure someone voting has a stake in their country, be it military service, paying taxes, owning land, etc helps to mitigate the abuse of people voting for their own parasitic benefits.

I'd make voting restricted either to draft registered or land owning (and occupying) citizens.
