I moved to Florida many, many years ago and love the change from New England, but there are lots of times I wish I had chosen Texas.
In general, the topography of Florida just plain sucks. Everything is a straight, flat road. If you're into outdoor motorsports, that's kind of a deal breaker. Might as well ride your atv in a fucking parking lot.
Florida has nice beaches though, so if that or boating is your thing then score a point for FL.
Regardless of the state you choose, you'll need to realize most major metropolitan areas are going to be blue zones. There may of course be exceptions, but as a general rule of thumb it's true.
The one thing I didn't like about Texas was their aversion to cannabis. This has been changing though. It seems both Florida and Texas both can't quite come to terms with the economics and liberty of recreational use.

I think in general it’s a bad move and old hat for observatories to ignore clean energy.
