I think her delay is actually an anti Bernie and Warren tactic. Delaying the senate trial will force them to be in Washington in the days before the Iowa caucus while the candidates preferred by the DNC donors (Biden and Mayor Pete) will be out campaigning.
"Getting through" implies to me that they are required to allow public discussion but only tolerate it because they must and that they have already made their decision - constitution and public safety be damned.
