We need to break down barriers to homeownership and not just build tons of houses everywhere and stuff people in them. Renting is a huge trap for low income families. Once you get caught in the renting trap, you can't get out until you save enough money for a down payment on a house, but that is difficult because rent takes a huge chunk of what would have been home equity and puts it into the landlord's pockets. I think if we have more houses built in rural areas, it will help spread people out more.
