In regards to masks, I'd also like to point out that one of the common reasons given to wear a mask is logically incoherent.

The argument is that if doctors wear masks in hospitals, that means wearing a mask in a non-hospital environment will be just as effective.

The problem is that the hospital is a generally sterile environment; the outside world is certainly not sterile, and tends to be quite germy.

In addition to that, there are so many confounding variables that it makes it almost impossible to say for sure whether masks (here, the kind that doctors wear) in every day life are effective at all.

These confounding variables include the sterility of the environment in which masks are worn, air quality, mask manufacturer, etc.

Part of the reason I left reddit is because even redditors on r/conservative completely 180'd and went full mask-tard.

I don't view using emotional arguments as stooping to their level, or reflecting fascism. I just view it as effective persuasion. Trump understands these things; it's what made him win. He uses emotional statements; big numbers used to conjure emotions.
