In any case, I understand your point of view, but respectfully disagree. Yes, my stance would seemingly mean more work for the mods, but the alternative would only turn it into a game of whack-a-mole with those desiring ill for the forum finding new ways to hurt the community. This will result in mods having to work even harder I think.
If leftists that sign up here won't be able to downvote, they can just as easily upvote non relevant stuff. I think the vast majority of people here do support Trump, and any downvotes will get drowned in the high energy upvoting.
