Also, because of Trump, we went into this situation with the best economy possible, one which just might survive this pandemic with only some minor, short-term damage (we'll see). If the dems had been in charge they would have created so many new regulations and "green deals" that the economy would have just barely been holding its head above water. This disruption would have been the final straw that would have sunk us into a deep depression.

They're going to demand "mail in" ballots everywhere for "social safety" and the Dems will get more ballots mailed in than there are voters in the state.

It was done as a one-time thing under the Bush admistration. $1000. Once.

well, we are going to have two quarters of negative growth. This quarter we are in now ends on March 31. It will be lower just from the effects of the last few weeks. Then the next quarter (April - June) is also guarenteed to be lower. So it will be a recession. In my mind it'll be "technical" in the sense that it was created more-or-less on purpose, and because (hopefully as soon as possible) we'll all get back to work and things will be relatively normal (it'll be a "new normal").

I'll take things that never happened for $100, Alex.

That was exactly my thought too. If you could convince them that that goo protected them from the virus, millions would gladly hop in their pod and join the matrix.

Wars have a way of bringing people together to fight the common enemy. Trump is trying to force the other side to behave, a rather tall order.

The population of Hong Cong is under 8 million. The US is 40x that. So multiply the 4 deaths by 40, that equivalent to 160 deaths here. They are doing worse than we are.

Media is mainly to blame. If they were projecting the image right now of "we must all band together and do what it takes - we will not be defeated" people would (mostly) grow a spine. But the media wants to destroy the US, so they are trying to sow as much helplessness and panic as they possibly can.

They just need to stop calling it “encryption”. You have to login to see the posts - and the login could effectively be used to make the text unreadable unless “logged in”.

That should be enough to get him arrested.

I’m usually not a conspiracy theorist, but this is interesting. China kicks out WaPo and NYT for not following marching orders, Google searches suddenly properly return conservative results, and now FB may be finally censoring liberals. It’s like all the news & social media orgs got together and said ‘we aren’t doing China’s bidding anymore’.

Well, what it actually seems to say is that they in fact will still be essentially arrested. Except instead of throwing them in jail, they issue an arrest warrant, get all their info, then let them go (for now). But there is still an outstanding arrest warrant for them.

Didn’t even look at their name. Their devious carefully laid plot failed!
