Job 34:3-4 (NLT) 3 Job said, ‘The ear tests the words it hears just as the mouth distinguishes between foods.’ 4 So let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (ESV) The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

2 Peter 3:16-17 (ESV) 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

The more one knows the Bible, the harder it is to be misguided by out of context usage. Which totally happens.

Though the undertaking of reading this particular book bears risk to the former self, as one may find themselves instead of reading, bring read. For this is no ordinary book.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12-13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Job 36:15 (NLT) But by means of their suffering, he rescues those who suffer. For he gets their attention through adversity.

Job 36:21-23 (NLT) 21 Be on guard! Turn back from evil, for God sent this suffering to keep you from a life of evil. 22 “Look, God is all-powerful. Who is a teacher like him? 23 No one can tell him what to do, or say to him, ‘You have done wrong.’

Job 37:13 (NLT) He makes these things happen either to punish people or to show his unfailing love.

“For God does not show favoritism.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:71‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jeremiah 45:3-5 (NKJV) 3 ‘You said, “Woe is me now! For the LORD has added grief to my sorrow. I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.” ’ 4 “Thus you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Behold, what I have built I will break down, and what I have planted I will pluck up, that is, this whole land. 5 “And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek [them;] for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh,” says the LORD. “But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go.”

Ezekiel 14:22 (NLT) Yet there will be survivors, and they will come here to join you as exiles in Babylon. You will see with your own eyes how wicked they are, and then you will feel better about what I have done to Jerusalem.

I think both scriptural locations are applicable for discovering what God likes and doesn’t like. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I find Leviticus 26:14-45 to be a good encapsulation of the consequences of idolatry and not following God’s laws.

Lots of great sections in Deuteronomy as well. The op highlighted consequences that are occurring but didn’t discuss the why and I’m guessing that’s what unsettled you?

Leviticus 26: 14-45 Deuteronomy 28: 15- 68 Deut 29: 14-15 rest of chapter Deut 30 a call to obey, what God does if we do or don’t obey 31. God predicts the response: 17,20-21 32. The song of Moses: recap of previous chapters. Moses gets to see what’s coming but not enjoy it because he hit the rock and disobeyed God. New Testament references 1 cor 10: 1-24

Highlights: ““But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: “The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess. The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish. The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with the scab, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed. The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of heart. So you shall be driven mad because of the sight which your eyes see. The Lord will strike you in the knees and on the legs with severe boils which cannot be healed, and from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:15, 20-22, 27-28, 34-35‬ ‭NKJV

The most tenderhearted man among you will have no compassion for his own brother, his beloved wife, and his surviving children.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:54‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Sample: https://greatawakening.win/p/12jwR1T2co/what-is-going-on/c/

“If you refuse to obey all the words of instruction that are written in this book, and if you do not fear the glorious and awesome name of the Lord your God, then the Lord will overwhelm you and your children with indescribable plagues. These plagues will be intense and without relief, making you miserable and unbearably sick. He will afflict you with all the diseases of Egypt that you feared so much, and you will have no relief. The Lord will afflict you with every sickness and plague there is, even those not mentioned in this Book of Instruction, until you are destroyed. Though you become as numerous as the stars in the sky, few of you will be left because you would not listen to the Lord your God.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:58-62‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Applies to us too: ““But you are not the only ones with whom I am making this covenant with its curses. I am making this covenant both with you who stand here today in the presence of the Lord our God, and also with the future generations who are not standing here today.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And all the surrounding nations will ask, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why was he so angry?’ “And the answer will be, ‘This happened because the people of the land abandoned the covenant that the Lord, the God of their ancestors, made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt. Instead, they turned away to serve and worship gods they had not known before, gods that were not from the Lord. That is why the Lord’s anger has burned against this land, bringing down on it every curse recorded in this book.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:24-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

““Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30:19-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Then my anger will blaze forth against them. I will abandon them, hiding my face from them, and they will be devoured. Terrible trouble will come down on them, and on that day they will say, ‘These disasters have come down on us because God is no longer among us!’” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Isaiah is a great book too. Isaiah 8:11-13 (ESV) 11 For the LORD spoke thus to me with his strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 “Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. 13 But the LORD of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

Isaiah 27:11 (ESV) When its boughs are dry, they are broken; women come and make a fire of them. For this is a people without discernment; therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them; he who formed them will show them no favor.

Isaiah 28:5-6 (ESV) 5 In that day the LORD of hosts will be a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people, 6 and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

The law still Applies to us too: “But you are not the only ones with whom I am making this covenant with its curses. I am making this covenant both with you who stand here today in the presence of the Lord our God, and also with the future generations who are not standing here today.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Matthew 5:17-20 (ESV) 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

If the populace turns to God and repents of their evil We could be done with this as soon as tomorrow, but that is very unlikely. Leviticus 26: 14-45. I think we are about to see the famines and war section in this downward spiral of non repentance. There are rumblings of understanding which is good, but not enough to change the path so far.

Ezekiel 2:5-7 (NLT) 5 And whether they listen or refuse to listen--for remember, they are rebels--at least they will know they have had a prophet among them. 6 “Son of man, do not fear them or their words. Don’t be afraid even though their threats surround you like nettles and briers and stinging scorpions. Do not be dismayed by their dark scowls, even though they are rebels. 7 You must give them my messages whether they listen or not. But they won’t listen, for they are completely rebellious!

“And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭NLT

Jeremiah 3:13 (NLT) Only acknowledge your guilt. Admit that you rebelled against the LORD your God and committed adultery against him by worshiping idols under every green tree. Confess that you refused to listen to my voice. I, the LORD, have spoken!

“I turned away from God, but then I was sorry. I kicked myself for my stupidity! I was thoroughly ashamed of all I did in my younger days.’” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Lamentations 3:27-29 (ESV) 27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. 28 Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him; 29 let him put his mouth in the dust-- there may yet be hope;

1 Peter 4:4 (NLT) Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.

“Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.” ‭‭John‬ ‭12:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Matthew 6:33-34 (ESV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
