Funny, but the correct answer is don't say a damn thing to them, beyond confirming who you are. If you lie to them, even jokingly, they WILL make your life difficult.
Ok, but you have to get two of them and stick them together. Creepy uncle Joe clearly meant a double barreled shotgun.
For those viewing this and thinking "wait, she was only clarifying..."
No. She was making the story into Trump being acquitted over small details of a tweet, and the lawyer correctly put her on the spot because the real story here is that elected officials doctored evidence, and there was no case to begin with.
The media knows what it's doing. Many of these journalists don't believe the narrative either, but go along with it for various reasons. They do know better, but choose not to take a stand, and that's a disservice to their viewers.
Hitler being better or worse than Stalin is not an objective statement. Both were fucking terrible, because both got millions killed. Doesn't matter if it was the systematic dehumanization and extermination of jews, or systematic persecution and extermination of political opponents of the state. And that's why people are down-voting you to hell. There's a larger point against authoritarian regimes in general being discussed here, and your focus on "triggered" people is really a swing and a miss in terms of relevance.
But I don't think this is accidental. You give off a very troll-ish vibe.
If it hadn't worked, it would have just been the first civilian casualties of countless more. The fact that it worked doesn't absolve the evil of it. Those men had to live with what they did. Would they have been forgiven (and forgiven themselves) if they had had to nuke a couple of millions to death before Japan surrendered? There's a reason nukes have never been used again since - the destruction is simply too indiscriminate. That in itself tells me what lesson was learned from it: not all ends justify the means.
But this little mind exercise of yours is quite irrelevant since neither one of us was there. Neither one of us know what other choices they had available, and what the outcomes would have been from them (predicted or actual). History is made of choices and outcomes, which men must take responsibility for.
Back to the topic at hand, communism doesn't get to wash its hands of the millions that seem to inevitably die under it, regardless of the intentions of the regimes that implemented it. If we're not going to abandon such a deadly ideology for good, then it is critical that it reinvent itself, which is not something I think we will see it do, nor is it even guaranteed that it could survive such a transformation.
I don't know if I would have. If I had any other option that was less evil, I would take it instead. I hope for the sake of the men that made the decision that it was the lesser evil of the choices available to them.
Sophistry. The deaths of hundreds of thousands of Japanese people was a certainty, the rapid end of the war was not. It was a gamble, paid in blood, that worked out for one side. Even if you can understand the decision, and even agree with it, that doesn't detract from the horrible destruction it caused. Vaporizing hundreds of thousands of civilians is always evil.
I think you are confusing the evil of outcomes, with the evil of the persons involved. CHEMST is very clearly talking about outcomes, and so is the tweet being discussed. That you had good intentions matters very little when the outcome is millions dead.
The lesson that we SHOULD have learned from the holocaust, is what a society is capable of once it starts dehumanizing groups of people.
And then they cancel a person pointing this out.
We are doomed as a species...

You know what? Denmark has a ton of wind power, even a globally recognized company that makes windmills (Vestas). Denmark also is in Scandinavia and enjoy freezing cold winters. You know what doesn't happen in Denmark? Power outages. You know why? Because they don't fucking rely entirely on windmills. Denmark has oil rigs in the North Sea, and fossil fuels keep their energy grid nice and resilient in winter.
If only we had fossil fuels. Oh wait...
