I'm getting to the age where aperture peep sights in low light are more of an issue for me now than when I was a few decades younger...How's she handle and shoot with that Buck Rodgers rig?
If I want miscreants off my lawn, that might be dang handy.
You have some nice old ammo cans. Red one originally contained .50 M2 HMG cartridges, the green one was filled with M2 Armor Piercing ammo for the M1 Garand. Since Uncle Sam quit feeding Garands in the 60's, it's a safe bet these are probably WWII - Korean War vintage ammo cans.
Collectors love those things, so don't alter them!
I wonder what the other residents think, knowing that because of the disdain law enforcement has for Ted, that they are more or less on their own with the mob?
Are any of them smart enough to regret electing these commie simps?
Take it from a Vet, while appropriate attire is appreciated, when you stand before the representative of all the unknowns who have perished in service to this great country, it's what is in your heart that counts.
If one day some kid in wrinkled summer service civvie sees the USMCR OIF next to the name on my slab and says "thanks", well that would be more than ok by me.
If you have any guilt consider yourself absolved in full.
Hey, a Star PD, the Spanish version of a super compact lightweight commander. Great, light compact 1911ish single action pistol and if I recall correctly, quite accurate and reliable. Back in the eighties gun for me. Saved me from a mugging or worse, but that's another story.
I bought one used and shot it it to pieces. I was a kid with a job at a firearms dealer, and the price was right. I started reloading, had access to lots of cheap ammo, and put a ridiculous amount of rounds through it. It was fun to shoot and quite accurate. It was not designed for such heavy use and even though I replaced the buffer every thousand rounds, the frame cracked. It was a slick carry gun back in the pre polymer era, and if I ran into one for sale today I'd be inclined to own one again if the price was right, even though parts might be a PITA.
Jeff Cooper called it a "carry a lot, shoot a little" gun, and he was smarter than I was.
Congrats on having such a nice example.
Is that a Crosman 760? That was the Kalishnikov of suburban boyhood.
The Red Rider got all the press from the movie, but that pump up Crosman put the wimpy Daisy lever gun to shame, and the user just varied the number of pumps to the task...two for BB gun wars, nine or ten and a pellet for blasting exotic game like starlings and squirrels.
You remember the good times and forget the pinched fingers.
Scaring off intruders is a possible outcome, but not the goal. The goal is to eliminate the threat.
Intimidation isn't a reliable force when dealing with people reckless or high enough to engage in home invasions.
If you have a deadly weapon, decide ahead of time you are comfortable with dead as an outcome for the intruder or consider other options.
That said, a 20 or 12 gauge shotgun, preferably a pump action with a 18"-20" barrel and a full stock loaded with low base #1 buckshot is about ideal as a home defense gun, and should be available at a reasonable cost.
Read a basic self defense book. Ayoob's "In the gravest extreme" is an excellent mindset book, it was written years ago so the firearm recommendations are outdated, but hardware is minor compared to mindset.
It all sounds grim, but shooting as a recreational hobby may strike your fancy, and if so you'll get a lifetime of enjoyment and confidence from firearm ownership, but at the very core of self defense is being willing to take a life to defend you and yours.
Good luck.
And they terrorize, assault and berate the little old lady with more courage in her pinky finger than these thugs have put together, and what is it they scream as they try to break her amazing American spirit?

A primary, one D "Jay The Snake" on the ballot, a whole bunch of pretty good Rs and a whole host of fringe candidates to dilute the "anybody but The Snake" protest votes.
It's early, as usual with mail in voting this isn't going to be finalized for awhile. The real Vote fraud here in Washington doesn't begin until November
Please post a graduation picture. Welcome to the Marine Corps family.
Tell him that the secret to surviving Boot Camp is to never quit.
I'm an old retired Marine that remembers steel helmets and .45 caliber pistols.
The young folks who join today and keep the faith are going to be challenged as never before. I was a seventeen year old wiseacre kid when I joined and I will never, ever forget how great it was to be a Marine when Ronald Reagan was President. SNCOs who had served in Vietnam were my mentors.
I had a tame but honorable career in the Reserves, was called up for OIFI and retired. The young Marines when I retired were first rate. I like to think I handed off the baton as well as I could.
I can only begin to imagine the pressures of constant deployment and the effects of the long years of Obama policies have put on the young Marines today, and those who lead them.
Tell him to never give up and that this old timer is jealous because I will never know what it feels like to be a young, hard charging Marine while Donald Trump is President. Tell him thank you and I'm sure he'll keep the faith.
Semper Fi.
I approve.
