Trump has said many times he wants free trade, but China will not agree to it. Also, he has tried to reduce the power of government wherever he can by regulatory cuts, but of course government is like a cancer that keeps growing. It's not a winning platform to say you want to completely gut medicare/caid and social security (which I would be in favor of to a large degree). If those things did not exist, then most republicans would of course be on the side of libertarians because there would be little for freeloaders to take advantage of (i.e., illegal immigration would be a much smaller issue).
It's pretty obvious that you just need to crash the system to make everyone dependent on the state. Thomas Sowell said it best, the left always wants to create wonderful federal programs, and the burden of proof is on others to show that it will not do those things. No matter how long it's been going on it has never been long enough. If it failed, there just wasn't enough commitment, the budget wasn't big enough, we should have had a larger staff, wider powers. BUT there is NEVER a sense of a burden of proof on you when to say when you've made this change that has cause such furor in this country, or advance any empirical evidence to support their claims.
What is the sample size? They said the percentages but not the number. That makes the poll useless. Also, look at that ridiculous margin of error. Are people really this dumb to not ask basic questions on polling? They literally said there are more democrats in the poll, and I am sure those "independents" are democrats as well.

The problem is that it's like crack, you've paid into it for 40 years and older conservatives want their money. Whenever I talk to younger folks none of them want it. It's worse than a Ponzi scheme because at least you get to freely choose to be a part of a Ponzi scheme, here you are just forced to do it.
