I get the appeal of live streaming and how they have to talk or YouTube will copyright strike them, but I wish they would do an EFAP style breakdown after the fact, rather than a live stream. We get to hear every dumb Biden moment and the fact check right after it. So much more thorough. And if they pause often enough for commentary, then less strike worries.
Ugh, got the "voter ID is racist" thing today on a work call and had to finally push back on behalf of the "black and brown" people. This was after sitting quietly during the customary white-bashing as I'm the only white person on the call. Somehow they still got mad at me.
Yikes. I was seriously looking at houses for a bit, but every one that looked nice on the website would get shot down by my parents because "that part of town is no good anymore." My sister's place and car has been broken into so many times. It was never like that when I was growing up. Such a shame.
And I've got a feeling Texas, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, etc are all about 2-4 years away from turning into California. If I move, it'll be to someplace with at least 10 years of conservatism left. If only Montana wasn't so snowy!
How's NorCal doing? I started out up there and remember that small town conservative feeling. My parents are still there and say it's gone downhill with all the drugs and crime and stuff. I thought about moving back up, but now I'm thinking I need to get out of CA completely. Unless Jefferson happens, I guess.
I actually don't mind the lockdown too much, myself. It's kept me from having to see my NPC coworkers every day during such a tense year. If we were all in the office, I don't know how long I would have lasted without saying something insensitive and getting the boot.
My fear is that as I prepare to find a new (and still deep red) state now, that I'm going to get a lot of resistance applying for jobs or house shopping when they find out I'm from California. I'm one of the good ones!!
Right?! It blows my mind. There are levels of disconnect from reality here that I am not prepared to argue with. I've already been condemned to reeducation courses at work after daring to argue that this virus is China's fault rather than America's.
Same here. "Whatever it takes" attitude because anything is justified when "fighting racist, bigoted, xenophobic, etc..."
And I try to appeal to the personal level of "Don't you think California already takes enough taxes from us and does God only knows what with all of it because everything still sucks? Maybe we shouldn't vote to give them even more." To that, the response was, "I'm PROUD to pay my taxes!"
I think some people are wired so crooked, they can't be saved.
I once had someone say "My family and I are all vaccinated but what if I go out and it gets on my clothes and I end up transporting it to someone who can still get sick? It's not worth the risk."
There's no hope for some idiots.
