So in other words, the statement is literally true.

I don't doubt this statistic if they're counting people who have died because of the response to covid, which I'm sure is the case. I personally know two people who died due to other health issues because they were too scared to go to the hospital to have anything checked out, two people who died of drug overdoses because they were cut off from their support networks, one person who committed suicide due to loss of their job and, again, a sudden lack of support networks to get them through the difficult time, and one person who had every health issue known to man and who had been living on borrowed time for ages, but their official cause of death is listed as covid because they happened to have had and recovered from it within a month of their death. So yeah, if you factor that sort of crap in, 1 in 3 Americans wouldn't surprise me at all.

I saw that one in Target before the outcry and they were all pulled off the shelves. Had I known, I would have bought their entire supply . . .people were paying stupid amounts of money for them for a while.

Old news. Board gaming communities have been huge proponents of making white folks feel guilty about the color of their skin for years now. You wouldn't believe the angry flare ups over games that have brown pawns, or not enough brown pawns, or whatever the outrage flavor of the day is. It is very weird, the things the unoppressed will label as oppression. That said, Monopoly has such a reputation that I am not surprised they're using any excuse to cast more aspersions on it.

There is a game called Secret Hitler - it's a fairly fun party game- that sold a version in which Hitler was replaced by Trump. I've been toying with the idea of making my own version of it called Secret Biden, but that theme might be too bleak for a party vibe.

So basically you're saying blah blah blah, the Polish should not be allowed to be patriotic.

Jesus, I hear the same sort of crap spouted daily about Americans and their atrocities towards American Indians, black slaves, Chinese and Irish workers, internment camps for the Japanese, the syphilis experiments on unsuspecting black people, the native Hawaiians, the handling of the leprosy colony there, and countless other atrocities. Throw in every atrocity ever committed by every country in the world and you'll never make your way out of the library ever again. Patriotism is about being proud of what your country does right and fighting tooth and claw to keep it on the right path. What it's not about is letting the bad keep you from having the pride in your country that's necessary to make it great when it slips, and to keep it great if it's in a good place.

If I weren't so against sweeping government control over things it has no authority over, I wouldn't mind a little criminalizing of a lot of the narratives psycho leftists like to spout. Maybe then we wouldn't be losing so much of our history to crazy people thinking pulling down statues and burning books will somehow rectify the fact that their lives have been ruined by people insisting they're victims and therefore incapable of amounting to anything more than caterwauling banshees. But I'm not okay with that level of government control, which is probably why my side seems to be losing against the people willing to give their government that control. People unwilling to use force to protect their freedoms tend to be thumped by people who are willing to use force, and that's simply an obnoxious fact. I have also always lived in a country that's been free (or had the illusion of it), and has afforded a level of comfort and leisure to its citizenry unimagined in almost any other county and time period you could have picked. Who knows what I'd choose to do if I had to live in Poland during German occupation and Russian occupation, during a time when you could wait hours and days and weeks at grocery stores trying not to starve while your children go to schools where they were forced to learn Russian and to forget everything it meant to be Polish at the risk of being disciplined, harshly. Who knows? But I'll bet one of the first things I'd do after being able to cast off the invaders and reclaim pride in my country is to try to put in place safeguards for renewing and preserving Polish patriotism.

There are many Polish who survived Hell without engaging in the crap you're attributing to them, just like I've never owned slaves, nor even had American ancestors who owned slaves. But I still get asshats telling me I have no right to feel patriotic when a minority of my country at one point in time owned some people. I get asshats telling me I have no right to feel pride in my culture because I don't sport a tan every day of the freaking year. Because the multitude of cultures that come under the umbrella of "whiteness" happened to have been so successful that I can't compete with this whole "rooting for the underdog" mania that has gripped so much of the world, so now I am getting kicked for it.

The world is full of suck, dude. Give credit where credit is due and move on.

Urban populations are pretty much the same no matter what state you are in, I've found. The people who are prepared for everything are in the rural areas, breaking ice for their stock, cutting wood for their neighbors . . . basically busying themselves with things that are more important than posting pictures of icicles on the internet.

I have family up there, and I can't breathe in their houses. It's like they're sealed thousands of times over, not a draft to be had. No ceiling fans, either. They all think I am crazy for bringing my own box fan and throwing open the windows even in the middle of winter just so I can sleep without feeling like I'm being strangled to death. During the day I have to go out for constant walks because the lack of drafts is so suffocating. There is this one place I like to eat at when I'm visiting because I feel like there's actual airflow, and I've been told by the waiters that a Texas company designed and built the building that houses that restaurant. They say the draftiness is one of their top customer complaints.

So I had no idea the Super Bowl happened, but that's not important.

What's important is I came here to read the comments, only to find out there seems to be a bunch of board gaming patriots out there. Until now I have felt like every board game community has been a crap show of liberal ideology. Seriously, I do not need to be reminded every five minutes that I need to be deeply offended by the fact that the games I play were not developed by a Trump-hating, deaf homosexual black guy who identifies as a woman every third Tuesday.

Sorry for the mini rant. It's just nice to know that sane people still populate my favorite hobbies.

??? Not sure what you mean. I just stood awkwardly by the table as the book was passed around and the adults argued as to the pronunciation of "stein." It was pretty damn annoying as the children's table had been having the same discussion and I had gone to the adults thinking they'd give a clear answer in my favor and I could shove it in my know-it-all cousin's face.

My heart, this is beautiful. If I ever met them on a dance floor I'd ask for a dance. They've got some moves!

I started a long discussion as a child years ago at one of our huge Thanksgiving get togethers by bringing one of the Berenstein Bears books to the adult table and asking if it was pronounced like steen or stine. Had it been spelled Berenstain, that debate would have never happened, so I know for a fact it was spelled Berenstein.

They're a compromise machine put in place to slowly whittle away at the 2A in such a way that we don't realize it until too late. I'm not sure if even they realize this, but it's true. Never compromise on 2A, period.

I wish more people did this. I know there are plenty of people who agree with me in regards to complying with mask mandates in spirit, but if they don't stop wearing their masks too I'll continue to look like a lone loon. We need to band together and quit allowing them their small victories. The thin end of the wedge has been given over so many times that it's no longer thin and has become prime fodder for fat jokes.

Been listening to nothing but Christmas songs lately. Nothing like traditional tunes and a perambulatory perusal through pede territory to put me in a good mood. First post here from a lady pede, just wanted to say thanks to everyone for being a wave of sanity in this sea of craziness.
