This post has convinced me that I need true anonymity on the internet and a larger network. I can't say 1% of what I'm feeling right now.

I'm a pede, but I don't understand most of comments in this thread. I treat everyone with respect (unless they're being deliberately inconsiderate or disrespectful).

I leave my cart propped up on a planter if I need to walk more than ~70'/past an aisle/through a thoroughfare/ to the store front/etc. to the cart return.

The way I see it, there are employees being paid to take the carts back. The business can decide whether they value reduced parking for increased cart storage locations or reduced income due to increased salary expense. I also don't care what something costs as long as I pay market value. As long as I haven't inconvenienced another customer, I haven't done anything wrong.

Other than the cost of goods, why should I taking an extended walk to return my carts? Would this really improve the lives of anyone? I feel like if everyone did it, we'd have cheaper prices and less store employees. If there's an ethical argument for doing this, I'll definitely return for rest of my life.

I value convenience more than cost. Am I missing something?

Seems like about 1 in 10 of my coworkers are hyper liberal like this. About 1 in 40 are comparably nutty.

They're such a small fraction of California, but they manage to ruin everything...

A show dedicated to violent protestors being run over would get a lot of views. It's the 2020 take on jackass.

There's some money to be made producing that.

Every time I hear someone discussing intelligence I note that every argument they make applies better to practice than innate ability.

People that use a hieroglyphic writing system like the Chinese are going to naturally perform better on many of the ways we test for IQ. I’d believe they test higher, but I don’t know that test scores = intelligence.

Don’t forget the the hopeless state of California forests due to bark beetle infestation. Small fire and it all goes up like a tinderbox.

It's more of an issue of the renewables being an unreliable power source.

Large power plants like Diablo Canyon and San Onofre and incredibly expensive to start up and shut down.

If the plant is online and renewables are creating an overabundance of energy the energy is being dumped. If the plant is off-line, and renewables aren't creating enough energy, you get either rolling blackouts or a costly start-up (which typically doesn't pay for itself). Large power plants aren't cost effective for California's current energy portfolio.

If regulators would just invest in smaller gas peaker plants reliability issues would disappear. Of course regulators would rather just hope for a new battery technology to come along and save the day. It must be the power company's fault if it doesn't...

Renewables are okay as part of an energy portfolio. It just needs to be a small enough percentage such that you can turn on small gas peaker plants to meet any increased demand.

It's the immense stupidity and corruption of California's regulators that's really screwing the residents.

Probably a foreign power funding this, but for what end? Hopefully it forces us to get our shit straightened out.

Imagine if Japan had employed these tactics in WW2. Would they have even needed pearl harbor? We might have just ceded them the entire south pacific...

No one should assume their spouse knows to do this. We should start calling it, "the talk." As in:

Pede A: Have you had "the talk" with your wife yet?

Pede B: Yeah, bruh. She thought she could drive around these clowns, but I straightened her out.

Sometimes when I watch BLM do something stupid I start feeling a little prejudiced. It really helps when I remember that 97% of blacks voting in the Dem primary voted for anyone but Kamala.

Good point. Conservative groups should have something innocuous like, “community service” in the name. Decentralize leadership, add a background check and track membership and member standing. Just take steps to minimize risk.
