Biden is an expendable candidate, he's old and they can write off the loss as a shitty pick and keeps their rising "stars" safe for a 2024 (or later) run. The Justice Dems are attempting to hijack the party and quite honestly, it doesn't hurt the party as much if Biden ends up losing. I think they've known for quite some time their chances of winning were slim and he's their fall guy.
2016 - Northern VA.
2017- Ed Gillespie was an establishment joke with not a lot of enthusiasm on his side. The Charlottesville hoax paved the way to Northam winning as they successfully used it as a smear campaign.
2018 - Corey Stewart could have flipped Kaine's seat in 2018 if our establishment GOP would have helped him and shown a little support. Corey had almost zero help from the party yet still managed to come in within 5pts of Kaine if I recall correctly.
If you look at a breakdown of the entire state, we are actually overwhelmingly red with Northern VA and Richmond fucking us.

I'm in Virginia and have yet to see the first Biden sticker/sign/flag while out in more purple to blue areas. My county is very red, however the lack of Biden signs in the rare few yards that generally support Dems are noticeably absent election cycle.
