I don’t do much work in Madison. I was remodeling a house for my brother plus I’m mostly solo unless I need help (I def needed help on this one). I live far enough outside of Madison that it’s not cost effective to drive there for work with gas and then being away from my shop/storage. I’m glad there are more people than just me willing to rock the maga hat in that sad place!

In the course of the year I worked on that house, houses in the neighborhood gained at least 50 grand because it sparked other people to clean up/invest in that area.
That race was partially stolen and partially having it happen on a primary election when Trump was unopposed. We have a lot of conservatives that I know that only vote in the big elections even when I try to explain it’s the small elections that impact your day to day more!
I did a big remodel project (big for me) that all the neighbors loved and wanted to hire me right until I started wearing my MAGA hat. I was like good riddance because liberals fuckin suck to work for, the city is up your ass adding thousands to my project, and I don’t live there. I said good luck finding someone of my craftsmanship/work ethic/attention to detail in the trades that isn’t a Trump guy.

I love everything about where I live but the shorter winter days, cold doesn’t bother me, it’s the lack of daylight. Even though I’m very early 30’s I have been building a business and have strong family ties as well so I’m in it for the long haul.
As for the property tax appraisals, in my municipality they are a third party private company contracted by the city. They send you the assessment and you can then argue it. My legend of a grandma (she’s 97 next month and I took her into vote after she demanded she go in person to vote) has successfully argued multiple assessment changes in the past.
I am Wisconsin until I die! My property taxes are much higher than yours for sure but what I’m saying is if that house was 25 miles in a different direction, the taxes would be 5k less at the same assessment but it would probably be assessed 100k less. People still pay it and it blows my mind!
I mean it could happen but I’d be hard pressed to believe it does. However this will affect a bunch of ballots though and if they were comingled with others, you kind of have to toss them all out. At the bare minimum, for the doomers out there, it’s another example of the ever expanding list irregularities that warrants vote audits (not recounts)
So the houses are owned in a trust and were fully paid off, but they took out a mortgage in ‘02 against the house? I can only imagine what they bought with that money. I am so sick of people telling me to feel sorry for financially irresponsible morons!
