I think that the most of the people along with the majority of officials in either parties will cheer for whatever position their party leadership says they should cheer for.
Though, some people will vote for an opposing party if they become disaffected with their party, or an opposing politician makes a particularly compelling argument. Given that, a successful 3rd party candidate would need to pull the vast majority of independents, along with needing a good chunk of disaffected people from the Republican and Democratic parties. If Trump wants to win in 2024 in a 3rd party, he would need a good chunk of Democrats and Independents to say "Holy shit, we never knew how good we had it."

I dunno. I see a lot of the county and even state level RNC organizations supporting Trump until the end. Trump still has 90%+ support with actual Republican voters.
I'd be far more supportive if there was a plan to siphon a bunch of disaffected Democrats who are ready to bolt from the DNC, or if the electoral system was changed from the "winner takes all" system we have in place to one more friendly to regional or smaller parties.
I mean, I could see the plan work for to siphon a bunch of votes away from the Democrats if someone like Kanye West was a big and public supporter of the 3rd party. I know that a lot of Black patriots aren't a big fan of the pandering of the whole "Black Trans-lives matter" crowd, and just want a fair chance to stand on their feet without crooked politicians enriching themselves by playing the "I'm black too card"
