Thoughts on operating a warrant canary? Maybe I'm paranoid, but some of the shady arguments I've seen out of courts for the violation of user privacy, while hiding the warrant itself ... well bothers me.

Well there's a lot of lateral treaties between Canada and the US. They likely expected that "in the interest of relations" that the courts wouldn't rule against them. Twitter seems to have forgotten that our government is trying to be censorious little cunts, and this benefits them.

Closer to 500k, for a party that wasn't even a year old that's an impressive run. Even the green's who are a fringe-left party, it took them nearly 30 years to get that many people voting for them.

I think election integrity needs to become a focal issue in Canadian politics.

The problem in Canada is that urban areas outstrip rural. There is no safety valve, there is no electoral college. As long as you pander to urban areas, you'll almost always win the PMO's office because we use FPTP aka "the party who has the most MP's wins the office."

Yep. If you want a better and cleaner search, use Duckduckgo. They have their own crawlers, they don't use google. They supplement results using bing, and no bing doesn't use google.

With server caching and redundancy fiber cuts only usually give you isolated outages. Or outages over a large area when they can't get to a caching service. Hitting only major cities is different.

That's pretty much what it boils down to. Critical care is at the cost of the tax payer.

Impossible. That sounds much more like Twitch.

Hate the STATSI all you want(I sure do), but they were sure efficient at turning people against each other and building a network of spies, that spied on itself.

Funny enough, I know that feel. Best way I can describe it is like a car or truck where the transmission is "stuck" in a gear. But the gears aren't moving, and are straining against the engine. Either what's stuck is going to break, or the entire transmission is going to fail...explosively.

That sounds interesting, I'll take a look. Thanks for the heads up.

Do you not need to prove Canadian citizenship when you make or go to a doctor appointment?

No. And there's been cases for years, of people 'homing' US citizens that is providing false residency for medical care. Back in '08? '09? a bunch of people got busted for doing it, that is Canadians.

As for your other comment, go read up on the various auditor general reports in Ontario, Alberta and BC. Those are the primary provinces that have been hit, really you can look yourself or not at all. They'll be listed under the "associated costs of non-citizen care" in the system.

What evidence? That americans have been coming to Canada for medical treatment for decades. I mean come on, that's been known since the 90s, even the NYT did a story on it.

You can find the rest on your own pretty easy from those two articles from two different sources. But seriously, it's such a well known open secret up here that it's stupid. Nobody gets prosecuted for it either, simply because it's in Canada's best interest to be on the US's good side.

Just look on the bright side then, you don't need to worry about tornados and blizzards where you live. Ughhhhh...one thing I hate about living here in Canada.

Why would you want to move to Australia? Everything tries to kill you, or is poisonous. Grass? Poison. Trees? Poison. Dirt? Well maybe not the dirt, but the 283 different insects? Those are poisonous. That little kid? Not a little kid, but a jogger in disguise.

Multiverse theory is my favorite. CERN caused all realities to merge together for a short time, as the individual realities separate ... well you're in for a hell of a ride.

Didja know our dollar is worth 30% less then the greenback? And besides, if our welfare system is then that'd be fair, Americans have spent the last 40 years illegally entering Canada for medical treatment. Depending on the province between 30-55% of healthcare costs are caused by Americans only coming to provinces for treatment.

Healthcare on average makes up 40-60% of each provinces budget.

Acting like you can't control yourself or whatever bullshit.

People with no impulse control are dangerous. Not only to themselves, but to others. And I've got serious problems with men who don't have strong impulse control. Yes it's hard to learn, but mastery of yourself makes you a better and stronger person.

Optional military service grants the rights to the voting franchise(full citizenship). Since people are invested by putting their lives on the line for it, all others are still citizens but have no pull in politics. This is akin to how voting used to exist with the voting franchise only being available to those who were land owners or held property.

The system is also similar to the olde Citizen Republic(city state days of the Greeks and the consolidation of the Roman Republic), where some people see themselves only as subjects under a king or other centralized power structure. In a Citizen Republic the weight of all decisions rests solely on the voters who risked all, the hold only one allegiance: To the rule of law, and only the rule of law. Not the spirit of the law. Not to any other body.
