To be honest, I don't know why anybody really thought otherwise. I think it's pretty standard in a situation like that to do what they did so nobody gets shot.

On the one hand, she's correct that people should take responsibility for themselves and do what they can to reduce their chances of being the victim of crime and protect themselves.

I showed up to my county GOP precinct reorganization meeting. I was the only person from my precinct to show up, so now I'm the precinct chair (or something, I can't remember my title) and can vote at the county convention.
There were 2 or 3 other precincts represented just at the table I was sitting at in a similar situation. Everybody at the table was MAGA/America first. We all can now vote at the county convention.
We all literally just showed up.
