It is common knowledge for anyone who chooses to educate themselves, that the Canadian medical system is already functioning at 130% and a pandemic would destroy it. We do not have enough nurses, enough beds, or enough equipment. If I was to get the coronavirus I would want to be one of the first ones so I can at least get a ventilator before the whole system collapses. Your roommate needs to read what is available in every newspaper in Canada right now. Wow people can be ignorant!
I am so proud, I received mine yesterday as well. Since I’m not even subscriber to R the Donald anymore it was quite a shock. But before I left I made sure to up vote everything so that I would get my reward as well. I had almost given up. Yay I made it.
Your sentiment is admirable but we also have to be very careful to isolate ourselves from those most vulnerable. I am in the high-risk category and the best thing my children and grandchildren can do for me, is to keep in touch at all times in case of emergency , while I self isolate. Right now in Canada we are desperately trying to flatten the curve of the virus by individually being responsible to protect ourselves from others and to protect others from ourselves. My sister lives in a seniors residence and she is in a very high-risk situation. For those people it is best not to have visitors. The more people that come in there the more likely that that virus will spread and that would be a disaster in a seniors residence. Her sons are making sure she has everything she needs and they are available at all times for shopping. But the less interaction for her the better. I know that seems contrary to helping your neighbour but the best help is one that doesn’t involve face-to-face interactions. Harsh but true. I do love the way people are starting to think about each other and their neighbours more and more. It makes me believe in humanity again.

Like no school, no clean water, one meal a day, one well for your town that was miles away and you had to carry it home in a pail on your head to your one sisters and brothers all living in a one room shack while your parents struggled to feed you on pennies a day......instead you’ve been raised to believe you are entitled to everything and all you want to do is let the society care for you like your Mommy and Daddy did.
