Depends on the state you are in. Only in moronic liberal states like NY do you have to fear for your life in order to defend your life.
Some states you have the right to defend your property. Others, you have to stand there and let them take your stuff as long as they aren't threatening. Stupid, I know.
I have been on the fence about posting this, as I don't want to be a "whistleblower." My industry has been gutted by insurance companies and I can't afford to possibly cause the loss of a contract due to bad press. Selfish? Perhaps. I'm only human.
I work in a long term care pharmacy. What is that? It's a contracted pharmacy that provides all meds used in a nursing home/long term care facility. We fill all the doctors orders, catch all interactions, make recommendations when we see inappropriate therapy, and correct mistakes.
What's going on right now is damn terrible. The doctors, including the Medical Directors are not prescribing the Hydroxychloroquine/Azithromycin/Zinc combo. Not only that, but they are not initiating any sort of treatment until a positive COVID test. Most patients are getting treated with typical wide spectrum antibiotics and intravenous hydrations. Some are getting oral steroids. Patients are being left to beat the illness themselves.
If you or someone you know is in a nursing home, TELL THEM YOU DEMAND THAT THEY ARE TREATED WITH THE COMBO IMMEDIATELY if they present with any symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection.
I have been wearing a mask and gloves to work(closed door pharmacy) and any grocery outings since mid march. My wife is home pregnant with my first child. I take no chances. Pregnant women are at risk when it comes to pneumonia. I am also an asthmatic. I'm on a daily inhaled corticosteroid. When I was a kid I was on weekly theophylline shots.
I don't really see the reason for the hate for those wearing masks. If you want to wear one, wear one. If you aren't wearing one, why are you hating on others for wearing them? I thought this was America! People can do whatever they want.
Wearing a mask does reduce the risk of transmission from people who carry it.
As an asthmatic(which is what lead me to be a legal drug dealer), I appreciate people wearing masks as well. I am at risk of a more severe reaction to pneumonia than others.
Don't be shamed to either wear a mask or not wear a mask. Know that if you wear one, you will be appreciated by asthmatics, elderly, pregnant women, immunocompromised, those already sick but with something else.
This is a stupid tweet. Yes Medicare pays more than Medicaid. That doesn't mean nursing homes wanted covid19 patients. They wanted to stop taking covid19 patients so they could stop losing staff to contracting covid19 from admissions. They were running on skeleton crews.
Source, I was a pharmacist in long term care in NY during all of 2020. We spoke regularly with the admissions depts.
