Keep in mind a lobbyist isn’t an inherently negative thing (though more often than not it is) and for someone to be “compromised” might only mean that they’re now tied up in legal restrictions or they owe favors or can’t step on certain toes or whatever. I get being pessimistic about this stuff. What you need to do is modify your expectations. Justice isn’t going to look like a person in power being arrested the moment we have evidence against them. It’s going to look like people in power circling the wagons to protect each other until the pressure that we apply becomes enough to break one of them or two of them or ten of them. We apply pressure so the underlings sell out the big boys up top.
