I always wondered if there was a difference in shellshock between the various conflicts. Did the reasons for fighting buffer the impact of the horribleness soldiers had to endure? Training? Do we just recognize it more readily these days? I heard motorcycle gangs first formed after WW2 ended and were full of men that had trouble adjusting back to civilian life. I still thank them all for doing their service and just wish there was something to help with that pain.
My Dad was a WW2 vet and he never really told war stories, he only told me 2 and it was just the one time. One of the stories was pretty funny and the other left me wondering how I was his son. He wasn't ashamed and would tell you of where he fought and served but that is where it stopped.
