Sure with android you could sideload the APK but there are bad actors that would leave poisoned malware APKs trying to sucker the uninformed. Those are the things I've heard and they do make sense.

It's not up to them it just takes the spine and will to do it. It will be up to US gov to decide what they're going to do about it. I believe most of the lefties would be happy to see Texas go. So they may not fight but they also might especially if it appears that Texas would be a domino that would trigger other states to leave.

Android seems to be about it. I'm thinking on getting a Samsung and de-google the fuck out of it. Gab says they're making a phone and I don't know much more than that.
I have a footprint in android from a previous phone. The ability to load apps without the play store is what I want. I haven't heard of Samsung getting political and they control the version of android loaded on the phone so hopefully they stay apolitical. Otherwise there are people on the web taking android OS and making their own version that I will explore as time comes. That's another reason for a samsung phone is it's popularity will keep android OS developers focused on supporting it.
