I always offer to help my Mom register every election season (even the last few midterms). We’re first generation immigrants, naturalized citizens, but bc she always saw corruption back in the homeland and only saw our politicians as more sophisticated models of the same problem, she never saw the point.

PJW honestly went psycho on her. It seemed like he was drunk or manic or something. It was seriously pretty fucking lame. Seemed like a jealousy tantrum. Maybe they have a history. I don’t know or care. She can do what she wants, it’s her life. We don’t need full conformity. She has a kid and wants to chill out on the culture war and make full documentaries. After the Wikileaks dumps, the Al Smith Charity dinner sealed the deal for me. Have since only found GEOTUS to be more sincere.
Following it all in real time, as they would dump more and more throughout the election and October Surprise just being HELLA downplayed by media and blue check mark Twitter was unbelievable considering the content Wikileaks exposed.
And then to follow all that with Russia was hilarious at first. We were new and naive enough to think “that’s absurd, this can’t last.” But when they didn’t let it go and it kept getting worse, taking hold as a narrative we still can’t shake, and we watched it become what it still is today, there’s no going back.
It was a very large and rude awakening only akin to leaving a religion. And to this day there are still VERY few people my spouse and I can talk to about those Wikileaks or Russigate, bc they’re such huge, far reaching scandals...
It’s like the current situation with Biden: blatantly racist remarks DURING RACE RIOTS and a history of racism and eulogized a former KKK recruiter — Dems vote for him anyway... it’s not logical, it’s just a team sport. They’ve never listened to the other side to know reality, if they do, they pick one token person on the right or one publication. They listen to NPR to tell them about the other side and find it “fair and balanced”.
