I didn't mean to disparage you! There are definitely differences depending on what field of study you go into. I did biochemistry in my undergrad and most of the coursework was just spitting back out whatever the instructors told us. It wasn't until graduate school where I had to actually sort through information myself and come to my own conclusions, that I realized that undergraduate education is sorely lacking.
Now, that being said, I consider math to be a different skill than critical thought. Math is more about problem solving, knowing what the next step is, and what the possible options are. On the other hand, critical thought is something that lefties - and, let's be honest here, some conservatives - are incapable of: accepting information from multiple sources, evaluating said sources and drawing their own conclusions.
(This comes with a disclaimer that I haven't done any higher level engineering coursework.)
Again, sorry if you felt personally attacked by my comment!
Undergraduate education doesn't really place much emphasis on critical thought and analysis. It's not until graduate school that you really start getting into the literature of a field and learning to pick things apart. (And even then, it probably depends on what field you go into.)
Drives me bonkers when I see these wOkE kids who are clearly just parroting opinions while ignoring perfectly valid information or discussion points.
It's made even worse when you consider that it's not just black people carrying out the rioting and destruction. White, liberal sympathizers are involved too, and as much as they want to "help secure better treatment for black people", their efforts are just making black people look worse.
I just wish the rioters would get bored already and go back to whining on Tumblr and Reddit, so I don't have to fear for my safety whenever I leave the house
Black people: "We want to be treated fairly and without prejudice by the police and community!"
Also black people: big riot, such stealing, much violent, wow
Obviously at least part of the black community has found success, but the actions of the rioters reflect incredibly poorly on their community.
Agreed. I get the point Based ST is trying to make, but his art style is a bit inappropriate for this and would make it easier for lefties to accuse us of making light of Floyd's death. It's a shame, too - normally I love ST.
"It's only brick and mortar" is the most blatantly pro-socialist tripe I've heard in while. It implies that people's possessions and livelihoods are not theirs, and that some jerkoff is "owed" these possessions due to some unjustified grievance.
We ought to have eliminated socialism long ago.
The waves will keep coming until Trump can't have any more rallies!
(Rallies for liberals and riots are ok though, and everyone is completely immune.)
