Agreed. For example, I love Trump and always will, but I was disappointed with the handling of the riots over the summer. I understand the desire for caution on his behalf... but what happened? BLM wackjobs ravaged cities with no consequence. Now Americans are asking questions about the election and are upset & frustrated with the events that have been unfolding all year and THEY'RE the ones who get the national guard called on them... and most likely even worse will occur as time goes on. If there is one thing the left does well, they're able to identity tactical advantages and exploit the hell out of them.

Regarding local and external drives, do you have any suggestions in regards to brands with a good track record (or perhaps just ones to avoid)? I had a Western Digital for 8 years before it crapped out. I know drives don't last forever, but I was disappointed with losing it, especially since I used it as infrequent backup and never really read much off of it.
And regarding automatically backing up to a drive, is there any programs in particular you recommend? I haven't considered automation... I always figured it had to be something I would manually need to do.

What do you do in regards to storage if you do not use cloud storage? I have lots of work files I need stored and accessible from multiple points. I also just have a lot of hobby photography. I could store them on external harddrives... but I guess I would need more than one in case one stops working to avoid data loss.

While their points about advertising I can get behind, it is this point in particular that is worrisome:

You know they mean MSM and liberal narratives when they say "amplify factual voices." And what does "by default" mean? Meaning that your tech services will automatically filter out information that THEY deem as "disinformation"? Do I get a say in the matter of whether or not I want such filtering?

Also, I don't think you'll be able to break through to him, not with this specific scenario. To truly have a chance, you need to recontextualize the conversation towards more fundamental ideas such as freedom of expression. What does freedom of expression mean? What does it look like? Are there limits? What are they? Who decides? Etc. When you strip away a specific scenario that is high with emotion and examine the underlying ideas, then you can begin applying those underlying ideas to the specific scenario and discover incongruities in belief vs reality.

Or just say you do not have pronouns because you believe pronouns are used as tools for gender and identity oppression, and request that no pronouns to be used for you, only your name every time in the place of a pronoun. At least then everyone would always have to remember and say your name over and over, and you can throw a dramatic shitfit anytime someone says "he" or "him" (I'm assuming you're a dude).

Because they're accelerating their grip on power. They've already tested the waters in the past, and they're using the opportunity of everything that has unfolded this week as a preface to escalate and see the reaction. They will keep doing so until there is pushback of some kind; they will see with how much they can reasonably get away with.
Unlike those that are content with being idle and "trust the plan," these tyrants know how to exploit a strategic position when the opportunity presents itself. As it was once said... "Don't let a crisis go to waste." That's what's happening.
