Give it a watch. It’s well done, and probably very interesting to watch in today’s context. It opened my eyes to how much commercials play on our emotions, and I found myself getting angry at the duplicity of how every commercial was claiming to be saying one thing, but was subtly saying something else entirely. I don’t get angry anymore, but I am always asking the question of “what are they REALLY saying?” No one is immune, but we can do our best to counter the poison.
I wish it was something so impressive! Mostly, I expect a surge in certain chronic anxiety-related disorders because impressionable kids have had a sizable chunk of developmental years subjected to TDS parents and media dumping fear and predictions of catastrophe into kids during their developmental years. It’s true for adults as well, but that impact on the brain during its developmental years rewires the brain in a lasting way. If Trump wins, it will be actually exaggerated since the Swamp won’t be giving up and continue its emotional terrorism techniques, but this time likely calling on foreign allies. The nation-wide germophobia, telling kids that people will die if they don’t wash their hands or socially distance will grow into a slew of social anxiety, generalized anxiety, maladaptive affective avoidance techniques, and (generally) subclinical OCD symptoms. Unchecked, these go on to create things like addiction and personality disorders.
Propaganda works. Anyone who thinks it doesn’t effect them is deluded. You can counter it with digging for counter-information if you’re willing to put the time in, but it does work. Commercials work. Ads work. And intelligence may load some on countering it (don’t know of any research specific to that), but it doesn’t grant immunity. I have a physician friend, a psychiatrist friend, and a very successful businessman who have all lost their minds to TDS. All smart people, and overall wise people whose opinions I respect, but the propaganda has created blind spots for them.
