So true! Never thought I would be on the inside looking out, but they are amazing... And they spoil the kids and make sure every penny is spent well. I saw a nurse drinking an iv bag into the sink (just saline) I asked her why she said "It keeps a pound out of our trash and that money saved gets spent on making your kid better. " Over the course of 25 kids a day 5 days a week it all adds up.

He loves leggos.he can focus on building for hours and it really helps to take his mind off things. He also likes to cook. For my birthday he took his own money, went to the store, bought steaks for the family, came home and made an amazing dinner for mom, his brothers and sisters and I.

We have friends of friends who brought us a car when we moved into target house. It was an extra and kept me from having to take jackson on the shuttles which are very safe, but when your kid has no immune system you walk around like a tackle making sure everyone keeps a safe distance. I called a service to come and detail the car before returning it, and the guy refused to let me pay him. People are so incredibly kind here. It has been amazingly humbling. This experience has easily been one of the worst of my life, buy it has definitely reaffirmed my faith in humanity.

When your kid has cancer you lose all control. What we can control is our attitude. I am in charge of keeping him happy, motivated, entertained and occupied. We negotiate getting him to eat so he doesn't need a feeding tube and when the time comes that he needs a feeding tube I will make him understand that it is not his fault and a good thing to have done.
