Hello everybody,

I found this site through an article online and decided to engage with you, for the purpose of understanding what it is you want. I’ll be as honest with you as reason permits; I am not from the US, though, as most people the world over, have been following the developments in your country quite substantially for many years now. I’m a white male in my early forties, in case you’re wondering.

A fan of your current president I am decidedly not. However, I come not to judge or presume. I am not here to “confirm” what I think I “already know”. I am here because I genuinely want to understand what you want. What it is that you believe needs changing. Why you believe this. How you see your path to what you define as victory. Why others should follow.

In terms of my own political views, frankly… it’s complicated. I guess if I had to choose left or right I’d end up choosing left, but really just barely, and without any serious conviction. I suspect I stand to the right on a large number of issues when compared to the garden variety “libtard” – in the main, I tend to favor personal responsibility over state assistance, I believe in owning the consequences of your actions, and I certainly have a few major disagreements on the merits of equality and diversity. A major element of my general life philosophy is that, though I need not agree with them, I tend to assume a large number of people always have a point, and can’t all be “wrong”. I am an avid student of human nature, take a keen interest in the human condition and concern myself chiefly with things like personal data rights, the rise of surveillance systems and the limits of human rationality.

But – I am not here to tell you what I believe in; I came here to start a dialogue. I want to understand how you see the world. This is your turf so I intend to stay respectful and on-topic, while refraining from judgments and prejudice. Please extend me the same courtesy.

However, I will ask pointed follow up questions, it is almost certain I will question what you say or kindly request some evidence (that is – what you believe to be evidence, not what I might approve as such) and as a general rule I will, to the best of my ability, follow the laws of logic, reason and critical analysis. It is very likely we will not agree on many things, but that’s OK; I’m not here to change your mind or to tell you that you’re all a bunch of rednecks. Please be so kind to note I will be asking genuine questions – not pass judgment in the form of a question.

I am not a journalist, not a cop, not an investigator, this is not a setup, yes I am serious, totally sincere, and everything I said above is exactly how it is. Replies might take a bit longer than you might expect, as I will be choosing my words with care and also wish to minimize emotional, ill-thought out responses and comments.

So, without further ado, to start, I’d be really pleased if you could be so kind to tell me:

• What in the world today, do you believe, is in dire need of changing? How would you like to change it?
• In your opinion, how has American society changed over the last 2-3 decades? Who did this?
• Why do you believe that your current president is the right person to change things for the better?
• What is it about “the other guys” (Democrats, but not only) that’s so unacceptable to you?
• How do you define what is true or false?
• Do you believe US society is fair and/or just?
• What is for you the most important trait a healthy society should have?

I think that’s plenty for now. These are not trick questions! Speak for yourself if you want, quote others if you’d like, or just tell me to DYOR and send me a link. I will read what you send me, I’d appreciate the same courtesy in return; Keep chillin’ - I won’t be linking loads of content. Answer one, a few, all of them, or tell me to shove my questions where the sun don’t shine and make up your own statements :) Fine by me!

Just one thing: I am not in your universe, so please avoid saying stuff like “Obviously, because X happened, Y is inevitable” or act like anyone who does not follow your line of reasoning should be next in line for target practice… as target. I’m smart, relax, but that does not mean I’ll follow all your “internal” logic as naturally and effortlessly as you do. So explain things to me, or at least summarize how/why you arrive at certain conclusions.

Oh, and be nice :) I come in peace. Be yourself, use whatever phrases or type of language you want and feel comfortable with, I am not going to become offended. Finally, and I appreciate this may not always be an option given that this is a public forum but – please, be honest :)

For the most part, I plan on taking what you say at face value. If you think I am full of shit, totally cool, just ignore this post. But if you engage with me, I’d be really happy if you could “stay” for at least a few messages; I’m certain I’d want to know more from you! Really, I’m just some sincere dude on the internet trying to see your point of view. Sell me your vision!
