People are also "making the claim" that the virus is natural.
Now, given the preponderance of evidence set forth in this paper, along with the fact that many of the arguments in favor of the natural evolution origin story do not stand up to scrutiny, it appears that on the basis of all available evidence it's more likely that the virus was engineered.
Hence burden of proof is shifting to the natural origin theory.
Burden of proof is a real thing when people have made up their minds already. If I claim that the sun will not rise tomorrow, wouldn't I have the burden of changing the minds of people who have already accepted that the sun will rise?
