A universal basic income in the short term will create a buying spree and you will see a spike for the economy. that will quickly fade as taxes increase and the cost of everything goes up. Basically short term UBI = Inflation. additionally it will cause a larger amount of people not working, and those working will be taxes higher. thus has been tested before and always fails.
