As the bolt cycles back, there is a wedge thing on it that applies outward pressure on the cover, flipping it open.

Touchdown of the bastard was only a few blocks from my house. City messed up pretty bad. Still 43,000 or so without power down from 48,000 overnight.

Our first responders are working 12hr shifts 7 days/week until further notice. Any means to get them supplies, grab and go food/drink appreciated. Though I can’t stand the usual soy moaning in the sub, /r/nashville has good sticky if you want more general info. Below are some relevant how to help excerpts.

National Weather Service has confirmed:

  • Donelson - EF3 (160-165 mph winds)

  • Mount Juliet - at least EF3 damage (155-160 mph)

These might be the same tornado, just based on damage observed.
