I always laugh when some Protestants bring up indulgences.
Oh no, 500 years ago there was a bishop out their selling/grifting the Grace of God? How horrible! Good thing we solved that with a schism - now there's no one out there abusing God's word to grift money out of people.
Now please ignore how all the biggest grifters (Kenneth Copeland, Pat Robertson, Joel Osteen etc.) are a bunch of Protestants; who make many millions by lying about "faith healing" and "tickets to heaven" etc. Protestantism has created bigger grifters than ever imagined possible 500 years ago.
For better or worse, the Church is the Church created by Christ. There have been good popes and bad popes. Through it all, it remains Christ's Church. We could really use your help in the congregation - come home if you want to help Christ restore His Church. Or you can keep running away, and continuing to schism into chaos. It's your choice.

If you still think these people care about the life/death of their fellow man, you need to wake up. There are many people out there who say "the planet" needs to be saved, and if literally billions of people die that might be for "the greater good."
Emotionally, it comes from a place of hatred and bitterness - though they use the veil of "caring" for the planet/the poor etc. In reality they would prefer that all the crowds and all the poor would just disappear and stop dirtying up their world.
If you want to see flashes of their true feelings, watch when they talk about large families.
The environmental movement does have good people in it, but most of the people who preach about it are quite rich, and have a deep hatred for all the poor dirty people that live on this planet. They want the whole world to be large empty palaces, golf courses and gardens. Wide empty, quiet places without the loud, dirty poor living their own lives.

Lots of people have been propagandized. On the rare moments when they see a glimpse of the truth, we should welcome them in and take the chance to work together against a common enemy. Make allies, not enemies. Every enemy we defeat is ONE enemy down, but every ally gained is TWO enemies down.

I like the alliteration. But more importantly, it confuses the language of the left. They do that to us all the time, and they do it because it works.
You call it "American" and immediately people associate that with nationalism - which the left has successfully made a synonym for Nazism. Bad look. You call it "The People's" and they immediately associate it with communism and multi-culturalism. That's very confusing for people and drives home the point that this is a NEW party and the doors are open to anyone who is tired of the other two.

Feminism is the fault of men. It was men who voted to give women the vote, for example. It was men who wanted birth control. It was men who normalized abortion.
If you want to fix these issues, the first step is recognizing that men control everything. Men have every advantage in terms of power. Men are stronger, faster, more expendable, more comfortable with violence etc. Women have no capacity to control men whatsoever. If you don't believe me, look at Saudi Arabia or Qatar or really - most nations throughout history. Women have only ever had power when allowed to by men, they cannot attain it on their own. And once they have "power" it's an illusion, because power is enforced. The boot of enforcement is still police and military (99% male) and it always will be.
Once you recognize and accept that, you can begin to find solutions. But as long as you stay in the mindset of blaming women, you are doomed.
There are plenty of women - millions - here in America who would love to settle down with a good MAN. But where are these men? They aren't men. They're jacking off, smoking pot, playing World of Warcraft and complaining that women don't fall into their laps. It's really pathetic.
The bar is so low. Never been lower. Stop drinking soda and go to the gym for two months and your body is in the top 10% of American men.

Usually the issue is not that the other person changed, it's that the problem was there all along but because sex feels good people ignore problems and hope the other person will change after getting married.
But then they didn't change, of course. So most of the time it's not that they changed, it's that they stayed the same.

Sorry to hear about your diocese - I am from the Midwest and we had an hour on the Bible every day minimum. Sometime the classes were moreso covering history/context than actually reading the text though. As I said earlier, that is the experience I have always heard shared, and I've never heard of a Catholic curriculum that neglected The Bible.
The Bible was assembled by the Catholic Church, and there is no barrier between reading it and being Catholic. Reading the Bible is encouraged by priests, parishioners, teachers etc. but at the end of the day it is the choice of each individual what they are going to do. Jesus never said "read the Scripture" nor would He - at the time He walked the Earth, literacy was beneath 10% and it remained that way for centuries upon centuries, so reading and interpreting cannot ever have been essential to salvation. Especially considering the document in question (The Bible) wasn't even assembled for a few hundreds after The Resurrection.
As the for text, you've got two major issues to deal with.
First, nowhere in The Bible does it proclaim sola scriptura. Jesus neither assembled the Bible nor promoted reading The Bible as an essential component of salvation...so where is this idea coming from that reading/interpreting the text is so important? That idea, ironically, is not found in The Bible.
Second, if you do believe sola scriptura, you need to explain the passages where Jesus clearly institutes a papacy and His Church ("Peter, you are my rock and upon this rock I shall build my Church.")
You mention pedophilia and coverups - those things are of course, horrifying, but that doesn't say anything about the legitimacy of The Church itself. There are many Protestant sects, atheist groups, governments, sports organizations that have these exact same issues so it's not like that's unique to the Catholic Church. Therefore the mere existence of these issues is no reason to abandon it - which, by the way, does nothing to actually address those issues. Taking your ball and going home does not save any kids or expose any coverups. In fact, by abandoning The Church, you are making it worse because that's one less in the flock to fight back against these evils.
I encourage all Protestants to come home. For better or worse, The Catholic Church is the one true Church founded by Christ. Five hundred years on from Luther, it cannot be clearer that the Protestant experiment was a failure. Christianity has devolved into into choose-your-own-adventure cafeteria of 100,000 different denominations.

I was raised Catholic. Went to Catholic school where they spent 13 years teaching me the Bible.
Now as an adult I read the Bible everyday. The more I read the Bible, the more Catholic I become.
What I'm saying is it doesn't make sense to define yourself (ever) as a skin color.
A white kid from Chicago has more in common with a black kid from Chicago, then either will ever have in common with a white kid from Nebraska. A white engineer and a black engineer are more alike than either will ever be like a black truck driver.
There are 20 different things - where you grew up, where you go to church, your job, you love life, your hobbies etc. - that will always and forever mean much more than your skin color. Making anyone think that skin color matters is one of the greatest tricks ever pulled by The Devil. All it does is drive us apart, and at this time in history, it doesn't mean anything at all.
