Honest answer. I think homeschooling can but done well but I think many parents are using it to overly shelter their children from the challenges of the world. I think school-aged children benefit from unstructured play time with each other away from the supervision of adults. These things would normally happen at recess and lunch breaks and in the time after school to before dinner.
I'm open to the idea that I'm entirely wrong about what homeschooling typically looks like but a big part of me suspects that parents who homeschool are typically helicopter parents who want to control every tiny aspect of their kids lives.
