Not sure where you got the 60k number, unless it is all the deaths since 2009, but you'd be wrong to say it was 60k in a year. It was ~12k. As for those who can't make rent, income, mortgage or whatever it may be, you're right. But at the same time they can't do any of that if they get sick or die from sickness. It's a fallacy to compare the two viruses as well, especially since this new one seems to be more infectious. This novel virus is already 5 thousand deaths away from catching up to what H1N1 did in an entire year and it's only been 4 months.
Like I said, if you're not willing to understand that desperate times such as these call for desperate measures than yes, you are shortsighted and selfish...
I hope you're joking. That kind of mindset leads to needless death, wasted resources, and anarchy. If you are serious, you not being willing to fight tooth and nail to for the liberty you say you value (and have enjoyed up until this moment) so that others can experience it speaks volumes.
"Cutting losses" isn't something you should say so lightly especially when it deals with people's lives. You sound like a CEO who doesn't realize those in his employ are actually people with families, beliefs, and aspirations. But instead looks at them like souless gears part of a machine.
Regardless the Wuhan virus did contribute to their deaths. If it never made it into their country those people would likely still be alive.
Unfortunately a lot of our fellow fat countrymen will take up beds which may affect the health of those that are healthy, if they were to get sick.
Not a shill, and I said all I needed to. There is no changing the proven tact that when people stay home the disease doesn't spread as fast. Does that impact the economy of course. But so does wide spread sickness. If people decided to get on with their lives despite the virus and disregarded it's severity, tens of millions of people would fall ill, the medical system would crash, the economy would sink, and thousands if not a few million people would die. So pick your poison:
Economy suffers but we slow the spread of the virus and more people live. or Economy suffers, more people die and get sick, and health system crashes.
Look beyond your four walls and the computer screen and realize there is more at stake here than just the economy.
Remarkable response. Not only did you end up contradicting your entire argument but you also invited information that wasn't pertinent to anything that was being discussed.
I feel like this timeline is flawed. Where are the points of China destroying evidence of the virus and the WHO stating that there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission January 14th on twitter?
You actually don't go to the ER. You are sent home because people who went out and treated this virus without care are now overwhelming the healthcare system.
Imagine being an hourly worker with a kid and you end up getting sick because someone wasn't careful and didn't take the situation seriously.
About 60% of Americans have some kind of chronic health condition.
Not talking about orchards or groves. We're talking about not becoming part of the problem by being selfish because of reasons such as "I'm entitled to freedom so I'll do what I want."
Imagine having underlying health conditions and getting sick from someone who had that mindset. You go to the hospital but there aren't any beds and there's a shortage of doctors/nurses because they are out sick. So you go back home and die because others didn't think of their countrymen before acting.
So you wouldn't consider it your civic duty to sacrifice the pleasure you find in freedom for a specific moment in time in order to not take up hospital beds or expose your fellow at risk countryman to a virus that could kill them?
Kinda sounds like the same rhetoric the left uses for abortion. Sacrificing those who are weak or helpless in order to sustain the lives that have a chance.
Would you be willing to sacrifice some family members so we can get on with it?
I don't think he's solely responsible for where America is right now. I blame China mainly for what has happened. But I do wish the virus wasn't downplayed by our leaders and attacked viciously like they did it in Singapore or South Korea. It seems like our initial lukewarm response and the fact we don't have the resources to prepare us for this will hit us harder than we could've imagined.
I know this is an unpopular opinion and I'm going to get downvoted to hell and beyond...but this pandemic wasn't handled in the way it should've been from the beginning. I have a feeling due to the delayed start our leaders had in attacking this virus we're all gonna pay dearly for it.
Only a miracle will pull this country from the brink. We have a long road ahead of us.
I have a feeling the FDA is stalling to avoid lawsuits of anyone that may have complications concerning these two drugs. I wish they'd be bold and cut the red tape and start saving lives.
Feels like things are going to get much worse.
I sincerely hope that more people will think of their fellow countryman and decide to do the safe thing by practicing social distancing and limiting travel. We don't need the doctors and nurses on the frontline of this being overrun by patients that could've stayed healthy had they headed warnings and did their civic duty.
If it did happen it would probably happen in the next few weeks based on how bad it got. It'd be a miracle of this Chloroquine drug helps turn things around.
You can tell Cenk is even a bigger blowhard because if he knew anything about China and Taiwan, he'd know that most of the Taiwanese people see themselves as Taiwanese, not Chinese. They've been trying to fight for their independence however it's been a massive uphill battle due to China's size and influence.
I don't follow Kpop but I remember a few years back a well known kpop singer was chosen to pick a flag to represent her during a game show and she chose the Taiwanese flag instead of the Chinese flag. China almost made it an national incident and forced her to apologize to everyone who she could've insulted and made her sing China's praises.
If you're in leadership what you should be doing is pushing your organization, customers, employees, and suppliers to be as safe as possible. Underestimating that contagiousness of the virus will lead to death. It would be tragic for a young healthy person to pass it on to a sibling who has underlying health conditions or a parent who is in the age range of it being life threatening.
Don't let the disdain of MSM, govt organizations, and fearmongering deter you from using common sense and being more careful than you would be in a normal circumstances. These are far from normal circumstances.
These figures were taken from google with 79% reporting so far so keep that in mind.
Amongst those in the race the votes they earned are as follows:
Sanders - 992,328____Biden - 733,100____Bloomberg - 424,679____Warren - 357,307
Trump - 1,441,341
Now....off of these numbers if there was a free for all election, Trump would win. However, at the end of the day despite the Trump voter turnout in Cali the Democrat nominee would sweep the votes as expected.
I'm curious. Does anyone here have an idea of how they would save both the economy, healthcare system, and the lives of their countryman that doesn't involve some kind of shutdown?
