I’m Canadian too, and even in the prairie provinces the cities are being swamped with extreme left groupthink, and the fetishization of immigrants from all over Asia. I worked with a great woman from India who ranted to me about how she left India to come to a place like Canada because she liked Canadian values, but now the flood gates are open and she’s seeing people from her own country and others moving in and trashing up the place (basically). Basically said she didn't move here to come to another India, or to live under a tyranny of a far left government who fetishizes her due to her skin colour. I’m tired of it big time.
All our best players play for American teams (with obvious exception to McDavid (who likely never wanted to play for the Oilers anyways)). And our smartest fans cheer for them. Only the bandwagon riders cheer for “Canadian” teams come playoffs. Regardless, the NHL has gone woke, and so I quit watching recently, sadly. tear
When hockey ditches the bullshit, says fuck you to China, and gets back to good ol’ fashioned hockey, I’ll think about going back.
I have huge respect for Sam, both in his non apologetic tackling of Islam and his intellectual pursuit of a secular objective moral foundation but also, as an atheist, I really enjoyed his books and I find that I agree or appreciate with much of his thinking and views. I can’t understand, however, how he still holds so much contempt for Trump. I can appreciate that he finds Trumps demeanour or “style” at times unprofessional or unbecoming of the presidential office. But on the flip side, he won’t give the man any credit either for any of his very significant accomplishments. Trump probably won’t win any awards for being the “nicest” president, but it’s hard to argue with his results and it’s hard to align yourself with literal crime families on the other side of the aisle. I mean, sure, Trumps rough around the edges, but damn I sure wish I had a prime minister in Canada that worked half as hard, or had half the balls Trumps got.
As a Canuck currently under the thumb of a moron Liberal leader, and in general, amongst many anti-gun losers up north, I am so very jealous of you Americans and your freedom with firearms (state depending). But even some of your most anti-gun states are miles ahead of Canada due to your 2nd amendment. Even if I got my RPAL which allowed me to purchase those, most AR15’s and similar variants have recently been banned, and handguns are so heavily restricted by stupid red tape regulations, their essentially pointless to have at home. Lots of Canadians who do have them just leave them at their ranges. I’d be in huge shit if I kept a handgun in a sweet ass coffee table like that, and the RCMP found out.
Former Christian, conservative leaning centrist here: when I left religion (Christianity), I was convinced that religion was, today, only a tool for division and a source of world conflict. I was pretty adamantly anti-theist for quite a few years. As I’ve gotten a bit older (nearing 40 now) with kids, and watching a whole lot of world events unfold, I’ve tempered my views quite a whole lot. I still don’t believe in god, but I do believe that some organized religions (not all) and many Churches and temples do provide quite a bit of good in this world. To me, the biggest thing is that strong community (fellowship), and a sort of humility of self (forgiveness....judge not...do unto others, remove the plank before wiping at the spec, etc...) is sorely lacking among all those out in the streets behaving violently right now.
Can you imagine the media outrage if, during the Trump presidency, Obama was indicted? Consider the current climate with BLM activism in full swing. How easy would it be to claim that indicting Barrack was peak racism - in fact, a stunning example of “systematic/systemic” racism. It’s almost like, because of the extreme hyperbole in politics about racism, arresting the first and only black president would simply be unacceptable optics, and therefore, Obama is quite literally untouchable. I’m not saying the left deep state is pushing this on purpose as a cover for alleged crimes by a former president. But it sure is handy timing for Barrack if he is indeed guilty of such corruption.
I’m pretty decent with reading body language. Notice the sudden eye shift to his right, right before he launches into his (non) answer. His answer is classic deflection and feigning of outrage. But his smile gives him away that he’s hiding the answer (doesn’t want to give it). This is classic bullshit politics. Don’t want to give a straight answer cause it’ll make you look bad, just pretend to be indignant.
Can I suggest that you compare Trumps vote counts in your data set too.
