Did they even give him a reason why they pulled the license? From what I hear, they generally give super vague reasons. The Dealerships are generally left stunned.
Thank you for posting this!! I very likely worked with and knew the owners! This story is NOT unique. Which is sad, because as I'm reading this I'm running down the list of Midwestern Dealerships who I know have gone through this same thing.
To me, one of the really bad parts (not the only bad or even the worst of what you stated!) that stand out to me is #1. Motor company will request this of the Dealerships and then DIRECTLY COMPETE with the Dealerships. Its really messed up.
Before I got into this business, I always thought owning an H-D Dealership would have been kind of cool (not a personal interest, but just the idea). After seeing what happens to the old family owned businesses, it's almost worth it to just remain an non-licensed Motorsport Dealership that sells and has control over whatever they want.
I am personally canceling them. Didn't say you had to. My post was information only. Things people don't know and Dealerships would lose their license speaking up about.

You are correct, I don't like it. And I know I am not alone. The best part about America is that people can continue to buy from Nike, watch NFL and ride Harley's all day long, even knowing what they know about a company.
It doesn't mean the things I have witnessed should remain silent. Do with this information as you will, that's the choice you make.

The first portion of my post about the dealer issues I Included mainly because I have seen Harley piss on their people time and time again (they even compete with their own dealers to sell products). I spoke up about that portion because these people cannot. I get that that is what comes with the territory of business. Its still messed up.

Because I didn't directly work with legal or the licensing of the dealerships, I only know what I hear from the owners.
It is my understanding that the license allows you to sell New Harley's and licensed Harley product. There are non-licensed Harley Vendors (shirts, shot glasses, helmets, Ball Caps) and Dealerships are allowed to purchase from these non licensed vendors, but only a certain dollars amount every year.
The Harley-Davidson Dealerships license allows the use of the company name "WhiteTrashJesus Harley-Davidson" , logo and the ability to sell new Harley's.
This summer seeing people flood Sturgis (per usual) and the mask "issue", it made me sick to see all of these, likely pedes, supporting a brand who doesn't support them. I know that they don't know, but that is the main reason why I felt compelled to post what I know. I think people should be aware that they are not the company they think they are.

You aren't wrong! The business (Theirs and mine) had been in a slow decline for the past 10 years. Surprisingly, 2020 was my best year ever. People were getting out and buying bikes like crazy this summer! I think partly because they're cheaper than a new car (the upkeep is the most expensive part). And because people wanted "freedom" after being locked down so much.
I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that Willie G has only been a mascot for H-D for the past decade and is no longer in a functional role at the company. Is his abandoning the company what you mean by him fucking the brand? (Not arguing, purely curious what you know)
In my mind it's the new, completely unattached, CEO's ruining the brand.

Not a Larp. But I know you will have to just take my word for it. I began working with them assisting someone who was independently contracted with them. This eventually rolled into me become self-employed and having my own contract. We worked through a licensed vendor and dealt directly with the Dealerships and "Motor Company" (this is Harley's perfered name in the business)
Oklahoma has 39,000 acres of tallgrass prairie preserve where a couple thousand Buffalo roam free. Not as many as there once were but they're still around.
... they're not extinct. We have a couple of free range protected prairies in Oklahoma with thousands of American buffalo.
Granted there aren't nearly as many as there once we're. But they're still alive and kicking.

My cousin is a nurse practitioner in Arkansas, the city she lives in is not huge (300,000), but their hospital is so empty they're laying people off.
Same, I don't personally have an issue nor a love for it. But I know people do have strong ties to it.
The only feeling I have towards the removal of the confederate flag in any form is that the deletion of history good or bad is wrong.
At the end of the day It is H-D's choice as a business to allow or not allow whatever they want their name to represent. I just felt people should be aware of the things I have witnessed. I know there will be plenty of people who take no issue with the things I take issue with, but at least now they know what I know.
