"As out state mourns..." Why is there this sudden (and by sudden I mean last decade or so) personal connection to tragedies happening all over the country, or even your state. There was an email in my company offering services for people who were saddened or affected by the boulder shooting.
Why in God's name should I be concerned with a shooting in Colorado, let alone feel sad by it? I live in Texas. I have enough shit going on in my life, and people who I actually know and can help. I don't know those people. They have people to mourn them.
