When those models were shown, they specifically said the 2.2 million number was expected if we did nothing. 100,000 was their hope if most people followed the guidelines.
Turns out more Americans rose to the occasion than officials expected. The model predicted 100,000 deaths minimum because it assumed many people would obstinately refuse social distancing. Since only a small minority of Americans were so stupid as to ignore Trump’s guidelines, the model has been revised down repeatedly.

The whole point of per capita statistics is to compare differently sized populations.
Sweden is losing a higher percentage of their population because they stupidly tried to ‘ride out’ the pandemic.
Statistics are dangerous when mishandled.
Sweden deaths per 100k population: 8.54
US deaths per 100k population: 5.68

People are getting quarantine fatigue. When a few more hot spots inevitably pop up in areas which up to this point have not had many cases, people will hunker down again. Unfortunately that cycle may repeat a few times before this is all over.

Yes - I can honestly say I have seen no red flags from Fauci or Birx or anyone else Trump has endorsed and put trust in throughout this crisis.
I am plenty paranoid. I entertain conspiracy theories that many pedes would scoff at. I also have an superb bullshit detector, and a decent grasp of basic epidemiology. Trump’s strategy in fighting this outbreak - including those he has put trust in - seems 100% appropriate to me.

Just like the talking heads, you guys are all upset that the models were not entirely accurate. You don’t take into account what Trump’s team keeps telling you - the nation’s responsible actions in promoting social distancing are the reason they have to keep revising the models down. We have been successful beyond the experts expectations at slowing the spread.
I’m not even going to talk about the nature of modeling here, because if you jackasses won’t listen to a Trump-endorsed medical expert then you’re certainly going to ignore me.
