We trust doctors with all kinds of super-dangerous drugs and treatments, because that's their job. They are supposed to be experts on exactly that, as opposed to politicians. We allow them to use their judgement to know how to cut people's bodies open, to prescribe drugs, to recommend treatments, all kinds of things.
But here, in only this case, the politicians have stepped in and preemptively PROHIBITED the prescription of HCQ, a cheap drug with a long history of safety and few if any side effects. They have declared themselves more knowlegeable than the doctors, medical boards, nurses, and patients.
WHY, exactly? What is the harm they are preventing?
