Two thoughts -
(A) It’s entirely possible that Noem sent the bill back due to some of the language making it impossible for it to survive legal scrutiny. Law is complicated and messy. I’m not going to make a definitive judgement until the bill passes or fails to pass.
(B) the way she’s going about handling all these questions is abysmally bad. Conservatives need to be put under heat and pressure by their own party; if you can’t even take scrutiny from your own people I don’t want my hopes of unfucking this country riding on you. However uncharitable the GOP hardliners are, the left will always be worse. If Noem can’t figure that out she will never be a viable candidate on the national stage.
It does, thanks to the masks.
The general consensus isn’t that Abbot doesn’t deserve to be primaried, it’s that doing so is insanely risky and could ultimately put a democrat in charge of the state. Remember when Roy Moore successfully primaried a Senate seat in Alabama? How’d that turn out?
[https://thepostmillennial.com/canceled-mumford-and-sons-guitarist-leaves-band-after-antifa-mobbing-and-struggle-session-over-his-endorsement-of-andy-ngos-book](Roughly halfway down). Unfortunate that he couldn't stand his ground, from the sound of it he was getting kicked out anyways due to a history of illegal right-wing opinions. Apologizing for something as mild as supporting a journalist Antifa doesn't like just makes my respect for the guy drop like a rock.
He caved and released an apology. Zero sympathy for people who grovel before the mob.
Would you rather have a Republican who occasionally does the right thing, or a Democrat who actively works night and day to screw you in new and inventive ways? Politics is not a place for idealism. You have to work with the people and tools you're given. Barring the possible but by no means guaranteed outcome where Abbot is primaried with a more conservative candidate who goes on to have no issues in the general gubernatorial election, he's what Texans are going to have to work with it. The DNC war machine has Texas firmly in their crosshairs, make no mistake.
I believe it. I know people who loved the lockdowns. Gave them an excuse to sit on their ass and do nothing all day while Daddy Government paid them to exist. We've got two entire generations raised on social media, is it any surprise that forced virtual socialization is accepted amongst them?
See, I'm not so sure they were going to do that seeing some of the legislation they're pushing. There was a bill to end the mask mandate, but that's fighting the symptoms without addressing the root problem.
Yeah, the local tyrants in the county courts are going apeshit over this, they wouldn't care if they weren't having their BS severely curtailed.
I was going off the headline link from the Bongino Report yesterday. I think it was KSAT?
Per the article, judges can reimpose some restrictions if hospitalizations go above 15% for more than a week but they specifically cannot do mask mandates. Only way the mandate returns is if Abbot mandates it himself.
You’re assuming Whitler cares about the National Guard. All the governors who do already withdrew their respective NG deployments from that hellhole.
Couldn’t someone sue the white house for deleting their comments the same way trump was sued for blocking people on Twitter?
He recounted what led up to his sort-of ban on Parler. He of his own free admission deliberately stress tested the new AI moderation by borderline fedposting. I'm still skeptical of Parler 2.0 due to the shoddy nature of their website's service at present and I have serious reservations about this new moderation system of theirs, but acting like Milo wasn't deliberately trying to cross a line is disingenuous. I'm going to wait and see if Parler goes down an irreversibly bad route. I'm keeping as many options open as possible until or unless they become worse than Twitter(not an easy feat at present)
well I'll be damned, I loaded it up again on a hunch and now it's showing the login screen.
I load parler.com and get the technical difficulties page. Unless they changed the URL, I’m at a bit of a loss on how to access it.
Is parler even back up? I keep seeing people say it is, and when I load the website I still get the technical difficulties page. I remain skeptical but if I can’t even access it it’s a moot point.
I can understand this reaction the the national GOP, but the Texas GOP has done a pretty good job of keeping voter fraud out of our state. For the time being I'm giving Allen West the benefit of the doubt.
People need to start linking the good posts and follows on Gab so we can figure out who the people worth following are.
infogalactic seems to be a better alternative.
Yeah, except neither Fox News Nor Tucker Carlson has been squarely on the "believe all women" bandwagon for the past 3 years.
Biden’s doing an ad blitz. Expect to see his face everywhere for a week or two. I think he’s getting nervous after the contrast between his extended Zoom call and a real convention.
Even Ben Shapiro thinks this guy is full of it after he claimed New York was the model on how to fight the virus. It takes a lot for Ben to turn on an establishment figure.
I do think cases and deaths are going up. We’re apparently getting significant overflow from the southern border. The rise in border counties is higher than non border counties, by a lot.
Their president just stepped down. Maybe there’s a leadership shakeup taking place?
