To number one: Sure there is. For example, a cell requires certain components that are all working in concert to exist. There is no lower form that it could have evolved from. It can't be reduced to a less complex form and still be a cell. Irreducible complexity.
To number two: The fossil record is dubious at best. Why are there so few fossils of other forms of man? And I mean PRECIOUS few.
