Just got into a bit of a nasty argument a couple of minutes ago. I asked my mother let's pray together and pray for Trump and the country for tomorrow. (She is pro-Trump)

Instead of acknowledging what I said, immediately got a snotty tone of voice completely out of nowhere "We need to pray your grandmother didn't get the virus!" Just abruptly said this. I myself haven't spoken anything against this, I figured we could pray for our family as well as we often do. But it was just nasty to immediately cut off what I said.

(By the way: she thinks my grandmother will get the virus because my grandmother went to a Christmas thing 2 and a half weeks ago. Someone there she exchanged a gift from was apparently diagnosed with the virus today.)

Like I said, no problem with praying for my grandmother, but completely uncalled for to shoot down what I said about Trump like that. This has grand importance and a lot more people will be killed depending on the outcome.

But she was too busy accusing me of "not wanting to pray for her mother" - ridiculous nonsense that I said nothing of the sort. I made it clear I didn't like how she shot down the importance of the presidency tomorrow, but that I had no problem with praying for my grandmother.

She wouldn't apologize or acknowledge that it was important, just making a snark about how "I have different priorities than you."

Now blaming me for getting her upset keeping her from going to sleep after she pointlessly started this stupid argument, and even though she was already upset about that stupid virus crap.

Anyway, I just wanted to get that off my chest. What do you Pedes think I should do here?

She is Trump supporter, MAGA and based in almost every way. Except in one way.

She is a big time cuck when it comes to the virus, yelling and cursing family members out behind their backs when they get together for holidays or don't wear masks and follow exact quarantine protocols. Her rage has only become more inflamed since recently one of my great aunts, who was 80, died in the hospital while having the virus.

I have told her repeatedly that I think the virus/quarantine is exaggerated to give the elites more control over us, which she seems to vaguely recognize is a possibility, but then she goes back into meltdown mode a day later and seems surprised I'm not as outraged as she is.

Normally she is one of the more reasonable people in my family, but every time she goes on a rant about this I am suddenly reminded of all the posts on TD mocking leftists who act like this.

This had been a reliably red southern state for some time. You had other states like Florida and North Carolina that were more topsy-turvy and easy to push blue.

Why did they arbitrarily go after Georgia? It just makes their cheat look more obvious when the other two won red.

Or will the certification get delayed and drag on for several more days/weeks?

It seems like this argument is the lock that keeps many normies shut down from reality. They're convinced that, "All the news media and respected institutions say it! So you're just delusional to believe they would all lie. It's a free country, no dictator is forcing them to lie."

In the case of the left, it almost seems to go over their heads that the news is owned by mega corporations, which they detest as greedy and corrupt. And that institutions are systemically racist. Those leftists are capable of understanding the concept that a web of corruption and evil ideology can overtake the country's power structure. They just are just blinded by their hate for anything that doesn't support the radical left.

On the other hand, it's harder to get the normies and "moderates" to understand this concept of mass corruption. How do we show them that all these authority groups are all apart of the same slimy web or ideology? It's not that these groups have independently verified their allegations in good faith.

It’s like in the great stories, Pedes. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened?

But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why.

But I think, Pedes, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something. That there’s some good in this world, Pedes, and it’s worth fighting for.
