Another big elephant in the room is if you give amnesty to such a massive amount of people they're suddenly going to be eligible for social security benefits at age. None of them have likely paid a cent into the system and will create a ticking time bomb of insolvency in a system that's already struggling from missuse.

Need to also make Texas a 2nd amendment sanctuary state in written law too. Shouldn't wait till the next 'crisis' when public opinion is highest against such measures because feelings.

Texas has got to be be more proactive.

Fun Fact: Dr. Seus drew political cartoons during WW2 and it's pretty obvious from some of them he definitely supported FDR and the Democrat party of that time.

What should be really pointed out in light of this though are the several he published several against racism and a questioning why blacks were being denied abilities to help in the war effort.

This site below has archives of all his political cartoons from WW2.

The corporate overlords and politically entrenched need the facade of a functioning economy if they want their fancy lifestyles. They'll post their ''woke" crap in their advertising and PR then laugh in their tub of gold coins waiting for the next meeting with whoever's writing the bills. When it goes against their base they'll point at some bogeyman even if it's themselves then rinse and repeat.

While I'm of the opinion that there should be no minimum wage, the laughable thing is that after inflation is taken into account, raising it to 15 by 2025 would make almost no difference in anyone's life except the shock it would have on the economy (Probably mostly housing) speeding price inflation ever so more. That and it sucks for young people trying to find work. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was further watered down to only cover full time workers.

I also doubt any Democrats would lower tax brackets for these groups suddenly making more so further reducing any gains.

I suppose if democrats as well as a sizeable ammount of republicans actually solved problems instead of prolonging them then they would have nothing to run on.

I was actually thinking about the issue with underprivileged kids and then realized that having free flowing vouchers would create incentives for advertising to parents and possibly even more important in this situation the kids.

Sure there will always be parents who don't give a damn, but how many don't give a damn because there's no incentive too? What if suddenly their kids are asking why they can't go to XYZ academy vs Prison Pipeline Elementary when there's no difference in cost.

If certain schools or levels of schooling become a status symbol (as some currently do) then it will only increase participation.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole antitrust suit against Microsoft in the 90s was some wringing to show what happens if you don't pick sides with the Clintons et. al. The whole case always seemed like a witch-hunt.

If the precedent it set had any notion of reality, then what Apple and Google have been doing with phones (for Apple unable to side-load apps, forced usage of their browser engine and for both unremovable apps as well as other real anticompetitive behavior) would have seen an even larger reaction. It seems they were proactive however and made their allegiance known sooner.

I'm expecting that Elon will be a target of goverment force in some way or another in the not so distant future especially with SpaceX. While he seems miles ahead of Boeing and other more entrenched companies, I have a bad feeling that where the lobbyist take a politician for free dinner matters more than having working products.

This is an excellent idea, it will make any liberal an even more obvious flip flopping moron if they come out against protecting children from viruses, plus they can do it indefinitely because "Muh stop the spread". If a court comes out against it then whoops you just created standing against COVID restrictions. Got to fight fire with fire. Back their hypocrisy into a corner instead of retreating.

Every red state need to be proactive and grow a pair if they want to exist. The Republican party has long been reactive or MIA on issues for decades now because they want to be the party of goodey-two-shoes as if it were still 1980.

This and Democrats really screwed up in one area with using COVID as a means to oust Trump. They caused the the fed rates to collapse from the mid 2s to nearly 0 in a few months. If anything happens even moderately bad economically the fed has almost no tools left to forestall or prevent another downturn, It took years to build back the interest rates to 2 or 3 percent after 08s quantitative easing.

They now have to tiptoe extremely carefully because if they spill the economic milk they don't have enough napkins to clean it up.

(The fed actually could put the money printer on max as a last resort, but history shows that any semblance of a stable government doesn't last too long after that.)

This needs to be said more, tyrants realized this years ago, communism is a dead end.

There's only so much you can squeeze out of a man in a communist system before there's nothing left. Under a facade capitalist system of fascism by keeping the masses appeased there will be more to squeeze and less risk of uprising, you can reward your allies with government money and punish your foes with government force.

China calls their system "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" in reality it operates not unlike a faccist/national socialism system where free market is allowed even encouraged, but if you get big or want to get big you need to join the party. Anyone who refuses to play along gets squashed.

Of course no country will call their own or others systems Facism because association with Hitler, thus everything get called the wrong terms because the emotions behind them.

What scares me is the acceleration the US is following in immitation of China in just a few years and in some cases months. We are seeing complete lockstep censorship that parralels China and enforced by the like of companies that just a little more than a decade ago left China in protest of their censorship.

Facebook and Twitter are so regressive they probably would sooner move to Portlands CHAZ or whatever it's called now and beg to be taxed more while receiving all you can eat government grants to make up for it.

By the looks of several states various "Republican" politicians I think the Democrats beat us to that idea.

Hopefully they will leave all the liberal employees the option to work remotely so not to infest our State.

On the upside though being a behemoth in tech, Oracle is pretty unpopular among techies for being not "Cool" as well as stuff it has done in the past. They are more the traditional Giant Corp© who still care about money over feels, and won't attract as radical employees.

Were I to guess its probably composed of a more moderate workforce that just want a decent paying job without the frill plus a lot of H1Bs.

Yep, you don't have to count on them to plan, they will use any crisis to their advantage, big or small.

Talk about behind the scenes coordination, the democrats do everything on lockstep.

Montgomery county arround lake Conroe seems pretty based, mask mandates not enforced, close to Houston if you need to do city stuff.

youtube-dl is probably going to be everyone's friend here, pretty much the gold standard and there were attempts to shut it down a few weeks back that thankfully failed.

Here are some links, the second one being for a decent looking GUI wrapper as it's a command line tool.

The push is definitely going the China route aptly know as "Socialism with Chinese characteristics". Soviet Union or Mao style communism isn't the goal as those styles are not only obsolete in a predominantly non-agrarian society, but always fail.

China essentially rejected communism shortly after the death of Mao when Deng Xiaoping rolled back most Maoist policies and transitioned back to more capitalistic principals. The CCP is only Communist in name these days using the term to mean whatever they need it too. It would be more accurate to define their policies as National Socialism. Capitalism is allowed and encouraged, but the party and it's members are first in line for a slice of the pie, written laws don't matter or are arbitrarily enforced, and dissent of any kind is forbidden (despite said written laws).

There should be a secure way to see and validate your vote down the whole ballot including its position in the process as well.

I want to see where my ballot was scanned, at what time, by whom, and where in the position of the counted results it is.
