Reminds me of Mike Obama caught saying "All this for a goddamn flag" and Obama nodding in approval.
They should have been thrown out the White House Jazzy Jeff-style that instant.
People have been spoilt by centuries of British, then American global hegemony.
They have no idea what the world or humanity is really like. They know we're the exception to the rest of the world, but they assume it's that we're tyrants in a world of peace lovers, when it's literally the opposite.
If the British/American Western model fails, we're going to enter an extremely dystopian world that will take centuries to come out of - if ever.
We're living in a rare enlightened spot in history among thousands of years of tyranny and bloodshed. And nobody seems to understand that there's plenty of people and cultures who are just itching fir a return to that, and how easy it could happen.
I love how people queue all day to look for a job on site, the vanish after one paycheck, stealing the uniform as they go.
As the foreman states too, it all immediately goes on drink.
Give me Gill Sans.
Or give me death.
That's the British spelling. I think he grew up in Britain before moving to the US.
The issue is that Flu rapidly mutates. It's essentially a different strain each season. If it remained stable, we could likely eliminate it.
Coronaviruses are a different family of virus. So far it hasn't shown the same adaptability as Rhinoviruses (Flu) do.
If they do, you can expect a Covid 20 virus. And a Covid 21. The Covid 19 vaccine will then drop in effectiveness accordingly.
There's also never been a prior Coronavirus vaccine because nobody's really invested the resources into seriously making one before as it was a minor issue.
Throw hundreds of billions of dollars at any problem, and you can pretty much guarantee a quicker solution than normal.
If you like those, I'd also recommend anything with Alan Partridge in.
"I'm Alan Partridge" is likely the best.
Father Ted is also gold.
I think you'll find Norway (Europe's dong) is twice as big as Florida (America's dong).
Yes.
Pathetic as it is. They like their 'norms'. Even if those norms are being lied to.
Missing a gold-framed print out of "Top"
$1500 a day. After tax. Including weekends.
For sitting around naked smoking crack and banging hookers.
Oh, and occasionally sending an email.
I think you're mistaken. Or maybe I am?
It was the subsequent Q episode, and Janeway requests he takes them home, but Q himself refuses. Instead simply taking a few years off their journey, because he doesn't want to set a bad example to his son by continuing to interfere in human matters.
It was wild watching late night in 2016 when they flipped between Comey being a villain and a hero weekly.
When Colbert announced Trump had fired Comey, they audience cheered. Colbert ended up admonishing his own audience (that he'd trained to hate Comey) because the narrative now was that Comey was a good guy.
They'd just got the memo late that Eurasia was now our ally.
The key sentences here are "against totalitarianism" and "Socialism, as I understand it".
His personal definition of Socialism was very different to that of his peers, and of those today - because it was anti-totalitarian. He was completely against tyranny. 1984 and Animal Farm are about the most effective attacks on 20th Century Socialism ever written.
If you've read any Orwell, you'll see that he loathed Communism and the Soviet Union, and the British Empire, yet was deeply patriotic to England itself. He was simply appalled at Imperialism and the state of the poor/working class at the time (what he saw as economic tyranny), and wanted to change the system to benefit them. But democratically, via debate.
He wasn't much different to us. He wanted out of foriegn occupations, loved his country, and wanted the common man to get a fair deal. He was just sentimentally attached to the label of Socialism for his personal vision, while simultaneously being the fiercest critic of every practical version of Socialism (as we know it today), at a time when that was a deeply unpopular take among his peers.
Remember, back then, the poor were living 5 to a room, working 60 hour weeks in a mine, and dying of malnutrition. It's a very different scenario than today where you can be poor, yet have a 4k TV and a Netflix subscription.
I'm pretty sure if Orwell were alive today to see how much poverty Capitalism has eliminated, he'd have an evolved view.
Regarding his fighting in the Spanish Civil war, Homage to Catalonia (his account) is essentially him admitting his naivety, the corruption and factionalisation of the left, and ends with having to flee from Communist attempts on his life after they purge the Marxist faction he was attached to.
There was no religious element either. The church was part of the military/fascist/monarchy faction (mainly as they were huge landowners) but that plays no real part in him opposing that side.
The Road to Wigan Pier's first half is an attack on the failures (at the time) of Capitalism, but the second half is a blistering takedown of the corruption, vanity, degeneracy, ignorance, and folly of your average Socialist, and explains why the poor and working class have no interest in Socialism as a philosophy as a result.
Orwell was a Socialist who hated other Socialists, and Socialist governments, and an anti-Capitalist who deeply loved his country despite his own criticism of it.
He's not a simple man to pin down on today's left/right spectrum, despite both claiming him. But his core values were hatred of oppression, love of country, duty to the less fortunate, and a desire for a fair society.
He'd probably shatter all the bones in his arm doing so.
Because the mask is only for people outside his circle.
Once he realised it was an intimate aquaintance (and likely forgot the cameras were running) he felt comfortable openly expressing the narcissistic rage he likely feels 24/7.
He basically went into 'behind closed doors' mode. The real Joe his inner circle likely see all the time.
Bond originally used a Beretta 418, the same Ian Fleming used in WW2 intelligence.
He changed it after advice from a firearms expert (who Q was partially based on) who considered the Beretta too weak for someone in Bond's profession, and recommended the PPK instead.
Not just due to being more powerful, but also being easy to conceal, and using a more standard ammo type (7.65mm) - the widespread availability of which would benefit a global traveller like Bond who may need to source it locally.
Agreed.
Jimmy's still completely tribal - he's just realised his tribe's leadership is composed of evil liars.
That doesn't preclude him still identifying with the tribe at large, and believing their propaganda about the other side. He just no longer believes their lies about themselves.
He's a classic case of being purple-pilled. No real understanding of the world outside the Hollywood bubble, other than a guilty, vaguely anthropological understanding of the working class.
Democrats used to class black people as 3/5ths of a person in terms of their vote.
Now they just take 3/5ths of their income, and deny them a free vote entirely.
There's a list somewhere of A-list actors who actually dropped/flunked out of high school.
Some big, big names on there.
It's crazy.
If I was nearly 80 years old, and a 100+ millionaire from a secret life of crime, I'd retire and enjoy my illicit proceeds with my family before my health gave out.
I'd likely have done it at 50.
The last thing I would do is fucking run for president, where any fool could see that all my misdeeds would be revealed, ruining my legacy, and risking me and my family being put in prison. All for what? A few million more?
It's pathological. Treason is in his blood. He literally can't help sticking his fingers in the cookie jar.
Because his 'God Bless America' crap is insincere. He was in as deep as the Bidens.
He's only talking now to try to save his own skin because the emails have leaked. He's as big a traitor as the rest.
Nope. It was Ali G, then Borat took over.
Bruno was always in 3rd place behind them.
Now he's kinda washed up, and chasing 15 year old highs for relevance.
Fucking hell...
In all honestly, I agree. Nobody cares sbout grades below C (they only barely tolerate C) so why have D, E and F? They're all fail grades.
Have the 4th grade simply be an 'did not qualify' grade. It's not about feelings IMO.
